Heighington megathread

@sameulcon said:
He is off contract at the end of next season. He would have asked management what there plans are beyond that. He wants to stay but if the club decides not to extend his deal beyond 2012 he may want out.

Heighington is signed to the end of 2013.

As much as we all like him for the non stop footballer he is..the way Teflon Tim appears to be thinking Heino's time is limited. How he can be replaced I have no idea..lets see what the TT man does.

Good news. The teams better for him being here.
Playing him off the bench (if that is what sheens is going to do) may well improve his game and allow him to play with a bit more impact too.

Hi guys, ive been a lurker for a while but this has brought me out from hiding.

Dont ask for my source but i can confirm that NO chris heignington wont be released from the last 12 months of his contract nor does he want to go, i can say that adam blair is signed but he is the ONLY major signing for 2012 the clean out is for 2013 and beyond. Also i cant be 100% so dont hold me to this part but robert lui may be released at the end of the year. There are 2 north of the border clubs currently in talks with the tigers in regards to robert

Any more news on Lui mate? If he is going to be released, **we should get miller in fg asap**

this is what they are weighing up. with miller and sironen progressing faster then what the coaching staff anticipated it has left them with a problem of deciding who to keep and i know its hard to believe but miller is the least "prioritized" out of the 3\. The reason the lui deal is out there is because he himself wants to move, its not the club pushing him.

My only problem is that miller is the only genuine 7 out of the 3 of them and he is the one who is on the outside looking in so to speak. Dont get me wrong the club rate miller highly but they really see sironen and lui ahead of him at this point as far as long term prospects.

My personal opinion is that lui should be the one on the outside looking in

Six and Seven are interchangable these days . No real difference . Why not have Marshall at 7 Sironen at 6 if it worries people so much . Benji can ably play 1st or 2nd reciever

so u think john sutton or braith anasta can play halfback? this whole crap of 6 & 7 being interchangeable is rubbish, you know a good halfback when they come along and miller is a good halfback

When the 6 and 7 play seperate sides of the ruck they are playing as first recievers . Do i think Sutton and Anasta (who is playing lock or second row )can feed a scrum . I know it is hard to put the ball behind the locks foot . But yes I think that could just manage that .

Totally agree, and I agree on Miller too, better prospect at 7 than Lui.

So what your saying a good 6,7 or 9 could not interchange roles . Sutton or Anasta aren't they best examples to use as they are more locks than five eights . Lockyer ,Thurston , Marshall ,Cronk, Cherry Evans ,Foran ,Cam Smith , Farah ,Hodgkinson ,Campese etc etc etc how about when you both use decent examples . See if you think the same with a decent examples

This is in the telegraph:

"HIGH CLASS SWAP

With changes aplenty at both Penrith and Wests Tigers, the two clubs have been fertile ground for speculation this season.

The latest news doing the rounds comes from Tigertown, where our sources have been talking up a trade between rival back-rowers Chris Heighington and Luke Lewis.

It's no secret Heighington has been talking with the Panthers, but a release from the last two years of his Wests contract is to be finalised.

It's also no secret that Lewis is upset about Steve Georgallis's treatment, and is perhaps the most vocal critic of the coaching situation internally.

Sensing an opportunity to snare a world-class star, Tigers officials have discussed the possibility of approaching Penrith for a swap.

When the mail reached our desk this week we found it highly unlikely Panthers boss Phil Gould would even consider releasing his heart-and-soul player, but felt it was worth a call to Lewis's agent Greg Willett.

"I actually went to Penrith and had a meeting with Gus about Luke's future on (Wednesday) morning," Willett revealed.

"Gus didn't mention anything about a swap. We were actually working on the finer details of his extension, which I did with Mick Leary six months ago.

"Luke is contracted to Penrith until the end of 2013 and has no desire to go anywhere else." "

More rumours from 'sources'.
But it does mention Lewis staying put and that no release has been done.

Well now that it looks as if Rhino is not going anywhere please, please, don't any other Tiger's players dare to have a coffee with Phil Gould!!

You don't need to even meet anyone any more. Just ring up a radio show with your own whacky rumour and then come on the forum! (I'm not actually suggesting anyone really did that by the way)
