**JT returns to launch Bears' bid**
By Josh Massoud From: The Daily Telegraph November 20, 2009
JASON Taylor will take his first step back into the footballing limelight when he helps NRL hopefuls the Central Coast Bears launch their membership drive tonight.
>
Less than three months after being sensationally dismissed as Rabbitohs coach, Taylor will join past and present players from the region to boost the team's bid for an NRL licence in 2013.
>
The former North Sydney Bears star has kept a low profile after being famously punched by prop David Fa'alogo during Souths' Mad Monday celebrations.
>
The incident led to Taylor being cut from the final two years of his deal, with legal action now pending against the Redfern club.
>
Central Coast CEO Greg Florimo confirmed that Taylor had agreed to be part of an expected 150-strong audience for tonight's launch, which will take place at the Bears' brand new offices in Erina.
>
"Jason has a history with the Bears through his playing days at North Sydney and has agreed to lend support to our bid," he said.
>
Taylor is unlikely to have any official capacity at the club with another former Bear - David Fairleigh - already announced as the team's inaugural coach.
>
"We'll obviously have a chat on the night but at this stage he's just supporting our cause in person," Florimo said.
>
Michael Buettner and Paul Stringer are other former Norths players who will be present, while invites have also been sent to Wests Tigers duo Chris Heighington and Tim Moltzen - both of whom are Central Coast products.
>
Florimo has already nominated Heighington as a captaincy target, but Tigers CEO Stephen Humphreys last night said he had no issue with the pair attending. The launch will also unveil the Bears' new website and merchandise range.
Just Kidding….Nice of Humphreys let two of our finest help out the Central Coast....
Hey King_Sirro...Heighno captaincy material.....
