They didn't start that way, mate. I had a lot of their early stuff before the days of multi million dollar sets - they were still an innovative band back then. I guess it's just a matter of preference.
Joni is now doing ok, according to the report in the link below, but she has been battling a rare disease (Morgellons) for quite a while now. Sounds like a nasty one too, but don't know if it's life threatening or not.
