Help Needed

Whilst I agree with the intent, how many of us here will stand up and happily post their income and income sources. No chance, and nor should they.

This will only happen if the players are employed by the NRL and then contracted to teams.

The fact is we know it happens, why does it need to be confirmed?

Individual salaries dont need to be disclosed, just the combined total. The almost certain probability that the NRL has absolutely no idea (or want) to unearth the depth of clubs' rorting of the salary cap system is the main reason why this approach is never undertaken. Todd and his cronies are quite happily slurping away at the trough whilst the game (and perceptions of it's integrity) is sinking into the pile of filth that they are dropping behind themselves. It's a disgrace.

Phil Gould makes some good comments on Twitter. One person asked him about TPAs recently and if they should be made public.

Phil replied that the NRL would be too embarassed to make TPAs public right now and he didn’t think they would ever be.

That in itself, coming from someone ‘in the know’ is damning. It implies that some clubs are fielding sides worth many millions of dollars more than others in the same competition.

We all ‘know’ this to be the case but it would be good to have it confirmed.

Sssshhhhhhhhhh CQ, we arent supposed to mutter such misgivings as they are the talk of 'panic merchants'.
#talkthegameup remember?
Todd himself says "the competition has never been more even".

I think the idea of a petition is a good one, fans from probably 10 or 11 of the NRL clubs would be more than happy to sign. Roosters, Broncos, Storm and Sharks clubs and their supporter bases on the other hand wouldn't be so keen for the comp to be exposed as an uneven sham. Fans boycotting the game would be a tremendous statement that highlights the fact that people have had a gutful.

It has been suggested that some clubs and managers are not bought to account due to their knowledge of Todd Greenbergs own short comings while he was CEO at Canterbury. I guess one day we can have a competition where the 4 clubs mentioned by FTB can play against each other only and the other 12 can play in an even and fairer comp.

Phil Gould is a knob.

If he believes TPAs could be and should be made public, I'm sure he could do that at his own club…...

But he won't...for the same reason no one else will. His team are sorting the system like everyone else, and As one of Uncle Nicks bum lickers, he would know a fair bit.

Wonderfully put.

Of course it is terrible how the comp is skewered by extra funds but I would not like players' high returns to be jeopardised by scrutiny. Whatever money they can earn then good on them. Their body is on the line and have limited careers.

Individual salaries dont need to be disclosed, just the combined total. **__**The almost certain probability that the NRL has absolutely no idea (or want) to unearth the depth of clubs' rorting of the salary cap system is the main reason why this approach is never undertaken. This is the whole problem and what no one seems to understand about the salary cap. It has **ZERO** to do with how much the individual players salaries are. What is important is how much each player gets directly from the club or from sponsors or companies associated with the club. James Tedesco can earn $15M a year all by himself but as long as only $ 1M is coming from Roosters and their sponsors, all is fine. he can get unlimited income from unlimited non club related sources and all is legal.

For all those saying the Clubs (or NRL) should have to disclose the salaries, what do you think they will announce? It will be exactly what they send to the salary cap auditors now, and guess what it will say? Alls good.

Of course the NRL will say "all's good". That is a hell of a lot easier for them than to actually purposefully look into the massive lopsidedness within the comp- both within the rules and most definitely outside.
