Hey Ivan

I’m more annoyed over their CEO telling us he wishes us well for the rest of the year. Dripping with sarcasm.

Best way to handle this is to beat them.next time then all players blow kisses to the Penrith Pk grandstand as they leave the field

100%.

Maybe the fans will wait until full time next time to give him a serve instead of going off half cocked and giving him an opening to be a twat.

No he didn't, he should have just shut up and said nothing.

I disagree. It's good to see someone from the club come out and condone Cleary's actions, especially when the majority of the media have painted Cleary's gesture as 'Theatre' or in response to one fan who was giving it to him when we all know every WT supporter was his intended recipient.
Cleary took advantage of a vulnerable supporter base who for years had faced disappointment after disappointment. He was our great white hope whose vision many of us bought into before he spat us out.
His departure cut deep and I and many others, perhaps yourselves will never forgive him for what he did to our club hence why something needed to be said.

I can't stand Cleary, but what did the comments from Lee do that was beneficial? It just gave more oxygen to a story that didn't need any.

I'd rather we not say anything now and then when (if) we beat them next time, then we go hell for leather.

It's the 1st time he's seen our home crowd. Last year was during a double header in magic round. And this year was limited numbers due to covid-19 restrictions, total of 5700 at the game. Wait till next year when we can get a full crowd at our home game, let's see how smarmy he can get.

He should be sanction by the NRL for inciting the crowd with his behaviour as a crowd we pay our money and we can vent or feelings how ever we like

If Wests Tigers don't put pressure on the NRL to sanction Cleary re "inciting the crowd" @Elderslie_Tiger I will tend to think we are a weak club.
Cleary didn't apologize for his disgraceful display in purposely belittling one of our fans when he said.... "it was just an incident, I PROBABLY wish I didn't do anything".
Imo when you put down our fans you are at the same time putting down Wests Tigers.
The twitter article I have quoted went on to say...."While Wests Tigers officials and fans weren't impressed with Cleary's behaviour, MOST recognised that it only adds to the theatre and builds on tension between the two clubs, which ultimately increased interest"....Really!....The response I have noticed from 99% of people on this forum is of disgust....so who are the Wests Tigers officials that don't see it that way and are therefore condoning Cleary's action?
Imo the only sort of theatre and tension that Cleary blowing kisses to a Wests Tigers fan develops.... is the start of the sort of tension that exists between English soccer hooligans, where opposing fans actually hate each other, and act on it.
If this is the style of fan base that develops due to Cleary's stupidity....I don't want any part of it.

Haha... You seem to be disregarding the.actions of the WTs fan that instigated all this
It didn't "develop due to clearys stupidity"... Someone else instigated it all.

If the apparent abusive language from the WT's fan was bad enough to be arrested by the Police....he should have been....but he wasn't as far as we know.
Ivan has already shown enough/to much disloyalty and dishonesty to Wests Tigers, while Nathan simply spat in the face of the NRL and his own club by going against the Covid-19 restrictions, and then lying to try to avoid punishment, which
Imo shows Ivan hasn't instilled good values in his son.
And then Ivan blowing kisses and pointing to the scoreboard in saying 'we won....YOU LOST' shows nothing but contempt to firstly a WT's fan, then secondly to Our Club.
NRL coaches don't react in that way towards rival supporters if the have the moral strength and just plain decency to be able to absorb whatever is being thrown at them.... and then just let it go over their head.

Our Chairman's inspired comments surrounding IC and his behaviour towards WTs are really well timed. Being publicly slapped down is a humiliating experience for him.

It's an acknowledgement from the club to the supporter base they too disprove of Cleary's actions. It also provides a different perspective on his actions rather than the 'entertaining' angle the media are running.

As a legal person....he didn't tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth...as he said Cleary apologised....Cleary DIDN'T Imo apologise as what he said was...."I PROBABLY WISH" I hadn't said anything.
Is that an apology to you?....it certainly aint to me.

Cleary's apology would be meaningless. Actions speak louder than words and that includes decisions surrounding player retention and recruitment while at WTs. The public slap down served it's purpose.

I don't get @pawsandclaws1 how you can say "Cleary's apology would be meaningless"
To me an apology....if done from the heart....means you 'accept' you have done the wrong thing.
"I PROBABLY wish I hadn't done anything" ....is NOT an apology.

No matter which way you look at it his actions were a direct insult to our players/ club and supporters and should be beneath any representative of another club.I understand he would have been getting a mouthful all game but in the eyes of many he deserved it due to his Quisling act in 2018.
I would be very disappointed if a coach of our club behaved in the manner he did as it reflects very poorly on the club.I can not imagine any other coach react as poorly as he did except maybe Flano as he has proven in the past it is all about him.
The NRL will do nothing except perhaps give him a mild suggestion not to do it again.

I can’t see the nrl wanting to hose down any club rivalries when they work so hard at promoting tribalism.

I agree with you re club rivalries and tribalism @twentyforty but the sort of club rivalry Ivan Cleary's actions could promote are NOT the sort I want to see in the NRL.
Leave that sort of rivalry to the well established hooliganism attached to English Soccer.

Any chance that scum bag worm Ivan is made accountable is definitely worth it. He's one tool that seems to get away with most things without being answerable at all and i hope Vlandys puts him and the club on notice. Who cares if a WTs supporter egged him on as its no different to a referee having a crack at fan for giving them stick. These people are in a position of power, they get paid ridiculous money and to label it as passionate response is just plain BS. The rubbish response from the Panthers CEO is probably worse in my book and also shows no accountability, by 'wishing us well' is having another sly crack and the reason why the NRL will always be a game for mugs. Ivan should be made to make a public apology for his immature response and admit he was wrong. It's not theatre either for what it's worth.

We should definitely have the next post covid Panthers game at Leichhardt with a packed house.

You've missed my point @pawsandclaws1 as it's got nothing to do with who Ivan Cleary is coaching.
As @jadtiger said "his actions were a direct insult to our players/club and supporters"....and he DID NOT apologise for that....but our Chairman says he did!
We as supporters have been searching for 'guts and determination' from our players, and Imo Madge is achieving that.
BUT....we also need the same 'guts and determination' from our Chairman and the Board....are we achieving that?....Imo not so far.
In a much earlier post someone said those of us who are upset by this, are upset due to us being beaten.
Let me make it very clear....I could not be more proud of our team due to the 'guts and determination' shown on the field.
