Home ground importance

If we aren't a South West team why are we always included with Penrith, Canterbury and Parra as a South West team.

We should be marketing ourselves as s Sydney team rather than limiting us to one region. Of course we have to concentrate our resources into our junior areas but we need to be playing at the best venue in sydney in the most central position.

Call me a dinosaur but i like the traditional grounds with a mix of ANZ for the big Sydney derbys.

We are well over 50% at Leichhardt oval since the merger started. And we are well under 50% as a club overall.

So to me that us a real home ground advantage. ANZ will never be a fortress. Might mean more dollars into the club but you could never make it a fortress with 15000 in a 80000 seat stadium.

Parra Stadium will hold 35k. Perfect

It would be hard to make Parra Stadium a fortress sitting in the Mick Cronin Stand.
I can't see us surviving long term playing out of Parra Stadium. If the NRL are looking at culling Sydney teams, having two teams in the one area is where they will be looking to cull.

No excuses not to get a solid 16-17k in Monday night. Great win round 1, played entertaining, Sydney club, Taupaus first game against us, Leichhardt close to the city.

Looking forward to it!

If the team is playing well and winning, it doesnt matter where they play, the bandwagon gets full very quickly.

The amount of people that will turn up on Monday night at Leichardt or to a funeral is based on one thing: the weather.

Rain predicted.

The nrl want teams to play or of the the stadiums so they're not gonna cull teams on that basis.
And the Cronin stand is being demolished with the rest of the stadium so you won't have that 'issue'

Hate to admit it but about 40 years ago when the State Govt permitted Parra to build a stadium there I protested against due to them "privatising" public land that to some old fashioned people is sacred property. Not that I regret. I remember now the fans burnt the old stools down when Parra won a GF.

But parramatta eels don't own parra stadium. Its government owned run by a trust.
Not sure who owned the stools though. Haha

Campbelltown would suit me living at Camden (even though I go to Leichhardt games as well) there will be others who prefer leichhardt and wouldn't travel to Campbelltown hence wouldn't be happy with Campbo as the base, the middle ground is ANZ which I know some don't like but it's the middle ground, so to speak, for a home base.

Beautiful part of the world Camden

Beautiful place for a mosque. Why don't they have one?

The council were afraid that too many kebab stores would spring up if they allowed a mosque.

I would not expect anymore than last weekend. Manly supporters generally dont travel.

I would have thought more may have turned up last weekend given the glorious weather but i think a few more wins will help in that area.

Since start of 2009 the only teams with negative home win records (<50%) are Sharks, Eels, Raiders and Titans. We are 11th on that list, Melbourne are top; unexpectedly for me Brisbane are 6th (behind Saints and Souths).

In this same 7-year period, our away win record has never surpassed our home win record.

2013 and 2015 (2/7) are the only years where we haven't won at least half of our home games. In contrast, 2009-11 (3/7) are the only seasons where our overall win ratio >= 50%.

So happy is right, our home record has not been outstanding but it's better than our overall win record.

The other thing too is we need away fans to come to our home games to add to revenue. Campbo is the furthest ground from Sydney CBD I can think of right now, so less likely to get away fans through the gate.

Leichhardt is a top ground to watch footy at, but unless it gets a massive upgrade, you really can't make it the sole home ground.

Further, choosing a LO or CS as the sole ground would naturally cause division. We've had enough of that for a lifetime.

At ANZ, revenue generation doesn't matter as we get a fixed payment per game, but while that's good, the stadium is no home fortress and void of atmosphere.

We are in a bind with our grounds imho, because all 3 are unsuitable for different reasons.

Maybe it is time to look at one ground though…the Tigers need a home.

You are right, there is no easy answer if ANZ is renovated along the lines of the plans made available recently where it is made a rectangular ground, this would help, it would still be a large stadium however if it has a rectangular shape it would help.

We have not been the strongest team in the past few years so winning anywhere has been a struggle. Also I guess the games they scheduled at our home grounds may have also had something to do with the results.

On the old home ground debate that has been going on from day one of the JV,in a perfect world one high quality ground like Parra stadium situated some where in the Southwest would be great with maybe one game at LO for sentimental reasons a year, but till than keep it as it is now

We are only using 3 stadiums at present, why not LIdcombe Oval as well, in between Leichhardt and Campbelltown. It used to have amongst the highest goalposts of all suburban ovals in Ford's day. Afterwards fans can go to Tigers pokies at Flemo markets (not that I like to encourage them).
