Home Ground situation needs to change

@gallagher So Wests Campbelltown look after Group 6, Wests Tigers look after the Macartur and Ashfield look after Ashfield and Balmain? I uncertain on all of that so am just asking the question lol

@cochise The logic is Bankwest =Parra home ground no way ...ANZ Souths and Dogs =home ground but that is ok ! I honestly just do not see the logic in this thinking in any way ..

G'day @watersider : a very sensible and well-worded post bringing up some very interesting points. I really wish we had more quality posts such as yours :relaxed:

G'day @willow : I like your sensible style of writing. No put downs or rubbish, just positive common sense :relaxed:

G'day @Cultured_Bogan : like yuh post. Well worded and straight to the point with no rubbish attached:relaxed:

@cochise actually, personally, I’d love to see some sort of compromise to potentially have us play a couple of games (3x each out of Campbelltown and Leichhardt, although it seems that’s not financially viable) out of some upgraded footy field down @ concord, then the rest up at ANZ with a few fixtures optionally to accomodate for fans nearer Bank West, ala whenever we verse Parra.

When I referred to Souths and roosters meant Allianz/Moore park area... don’t think Souths have anywhere near the sorta stake that we do to be in that Olympic Park area ! If the COE is as good as it sounds then I don’t understand how it’s possible for you to think we’d set up our offensive camp out of a stadium at Parra (which when I last worked there still wasn’t that great - let’s be honest) when we have our home base that’s going to be that great in the Inner West and right next to ANZ.

Please keep in mind that I’m also not from either side of the JV. Cheers mate. Hope that you can at least appreciate the thoughts - would be amazing to fit everybodies interests in.

I 100% appreciate your thought on the matter, I really do not believe that either LO or CSS meet the needs of a professional sporting organisation in 2019. That leaves us with either ANZ or Bankwest.

Souths no longer play at at Moore park and have indicated they will not be returning. They play all their games at ANZ with the Bulldogs also playing the majority of their games there. That has left us as the minor tenant at ANZ for almost 20 years, people haven't cared about that but now have a problem with paying at Bankwest.

I have hated playing in a ground that is massively oversized for our purpose, the refurb will do nothing to fix that and it will still be a cavernous hole. I've sat at games at ANZ where I have been the only person in a row of 20+ seats, how is that good for the game?

The way I see it is that there is no perfect solution/venue open to the club at the moment, however we seem to be making a lot of assumptions without concrete evidence.

For example, how much $ is it worth to us to play at BankWest?

The NSW gov has made it clear it won’t be spending any dollars on suburban grounds, however would that include Campbelltown given that area is technically outside of Sydney?

Is the council in Campbelltown actively pursuing the Club to get us playing there?

Would Wests Campbelltown come back to the table if we made a commitment to Campbelltown?

Will the new ANZ stadium be more rugby league friendly? I.e. the redesign might remove the frustrations we’ve all had with the existing structure.

I can’t see bankwest as anything other than Parramatta’s home ground.

While the a-league season is on the wanderers will also be a priority tenant.

That relegates our games there to leftover time slots (hello Thursday & Friday nights) where we cannot draw a crowd.

Homebush aligns more with our local area, but the redeveloped stadium is a couple of years away, and we would also be sharing that ground.

I would like to see what the new Moore Park stadium is like and who is using it.

The old Balmain fans want Leichhardt, the magpies fans want Campbelltown, @cochise &@Snake want Parramatta.

There should be a members poll.

Along with the dozen other reasons as to why it’s not our home is the fact that Parramatta will play out of there every second week going forward. We’ll play there once a month, if that, due to LO and Ctown. Also, the Dogs and maybe Souths probably end up there when ANZ gets revamped. Can they lay claim too?

It will still have 80000 seats so will be less than half full every single time we play there outside the once in a blue moon event, for the majority of our games it will be less than a 1/4 full and for games like the one we had on the Thursday night a few weeks ago it will be around 1/8th full. That is 8 seats for every paying customer!

They also said they will not spend money on stadiums they do not own, so I would think that includes CSS.

Not if we play all our home games there.

We don’t though. And probably never will.

That is not true, we have shared ANZ with other teams for years, teams that play many more matches than us at the ground and it has never resulted in us receiving more Thursday and Friday games than those teams.

@GNR4LIFE This whole conversation is about what we do with our homegrounds moving forward and there has been a strong response here to having 1 home ground.

I think we all want that. That's not the issue. The issue for me is why Bankwest. Why would you want a home ground in the heartland of another club who also play out of that ground? I could understand if it was ANZ because its neutral territory and is in close proximity to Leichhardt and Ashfield. That somewhat makes sense. Parramatta doesn't.

The ideal solution is Ctown getting an upgrade (which could happen now with an A-League team playing there. Not holding my breath though) and playing out of there with 2 or 3 games a year at LO.

We definately need 1 ground and there is very little chance LO or CO will get a cent spent on them by the government as they have committed to Moore Park Homebush and Parra.Realisticaly it has to be one of those we commit to for the forseable future.Because of our supporter base covering much of Sydney Homebush would be the logical place despite its issues.Parra is and always will be associated by the filth and Moore park is inner city territory
