They didn’t even get a quarter of the cost to build it when they leased it to ANZ.

It is not leased to ANZ?

Not any more it isn't, not since 2009.

It was never leased by ANZ, it was by Infrastructure Capital Group but that was bought out by the NSW Government!

Who was behind the Australian capital group?
Do the research. Ex AFL chairman Mike Fitzpatrick was the main principal of the company but sold his half to Westpac Bank.
Mike Fitzpatrick is a banker. Worked in the U.S for Meryll Lynch before their collapse.
Did I mention he was also treasurer for Victoria after he retired?
Funny how politicians manage to acquire so vast wealth.

It's not what you know, it's who you know.

Well aware of that, but still trying to find where ANZ leased it, and how the other stadiums are owned by the banks!

But surely even blind Freddie must be able to see there is NO better alternative, than for our Wests Tigers fortress to be located in C’town.

Campbelltown has never accepted a team playing there and have had a very long time to do so!

Westpac is an ANZ bank subsidiary. Westpac partnered with Infrastructure group just a few months before they obtained the lease.

They must have had inside information because everyone made out good except the poor taxpayers.

It's all corruption. Once it's redeveloped it will be leased out again.
Around and around we go.

If you build it @cochise they will come.

Now that our beloved coach has become 'actively' interested in the BOOMING C'town area, and as he stated C.S.S. becoming our fortress, I'm sure with the right promotion Wests Tigers will be Very Readily Accepted there Cochise.

As you already know, I have been a Wests Magpies supporter for over 50 years, and I would love our team to be known as Wests Magpies. And as I have already told you, I believe the Magpies days are gone as far as our N.R. L. side is concerned.

I want what I believe is the best for our Wests Tigers to go ahead in a big way.
Cheers Cochise :fa-smile-o:

Other stadiums haven't got the capacity or infrastructure in place to make the investment profitable.
They need the government to put in the money first.
Once built, the government will put the lease to tender.
Government isn't in the business of managing game day operations.
Both new stadiums will be leased and at a loss.

Westpac is not a subsidiary of ANZ! They are competitors.

After the Olympics the Stadium Australia Group tried to float the stadium but didn't get enough investors. They owed money to their bank, ANZ, so the stadium was leased to ANZ as part of their new ANZ Infrastructure Services group.

ANZ sold this Infrastructure arm in 2009 and Infrastructure Capital Group took on the stadium lease.

NSW Govt in 2018 decided to buy the lease back early rather than let the current 15 years run out, particularly because ICG had no interest nor incentive to upgrade the stadium.

I don't know about the finances of the private leasees, but ANZ Stadium itself makes a small profit, in the millions, annually. But private firms don't have the inclination to upgrade it, if they are only leaseholders. I am not aware of anyone making big bucks off the stadium at all, in fact I think it's always at risk of running at a loss.

But complaining about it is like complaining that Central Station or The Opera House cost taxpayers money to build and maintain. Yeah sure, they do.

How niave you are.
Banks all own a piece of each other in Australia. It's the perfect way to eliminate your competition in bad times. It's strategic share ownership.
If one is in trouble, the sharks circle and takeovers can take place.

That's the beauty of a free market economy. Just buy shares in your competition and if things a good, profits flow.
If things go bad, they are there strategically to make a take over bid.

I take it you never studied business. It's a ruthless world out there.

Small capacity and needs redevelopment to bring it up to standard.

@cochise The area is a mix of different supporters dragons dogs etc etc supporters move out to buy a home and settle etc and deep down they follow there original side not the tigers and kids follow what parents follow etc its in the family

The club I would not want to merge with, along with the eels, would be the bulldogs....that happens I'm out

@OzLuke agree could never merge with dogs we have our merger let other teams do it. id say relocate GC and boot out warriors
Beware P Vlandys though guys dragons are safe as houses

It's safe to say that both L.O and CSS won't get upgraded. Nostalgia only takes you so far.
Darcy Bryne hinted that time is running out for L.O as it falls into further disrepair.

I think it's beyond an upgrade. It will be demolished and turned into parkland.
That area is full of basket weaving whining greenies now.
All these action groups have killed the League's club and are against L.O getting upgraded.
