Home Ground situation needs to change

I think the thought process behind Wests instead of Western was it put more Magpie identity in the name. You could call them Wests as well as the Tigers. Whereas with the Western Tigers, they would exclusively be referred as the Tigers. You can't call them Western.

Why not western suburbs tigers?

I'll be honest , a full house at Leichhardt I expected it to be deafening

I was disappointed

Maybe the grounds aren't the issue ......

Gosford.

Going to keep on saying it. Just need to work out how it works for Wests

Personally I wouldn't like that!

If we are talking personally i wouldnt either but this is about what is best for the club.

Its hard to remove our favoritism and allegiances but if we became a strong and successful club most people would be won over.

Not to mention the huge amount of local support you would get if the team embraced the Gosford area.

We average 18 k at Homebush. Gosford holds 20k so were moving for 2k crowds?

Honestly i think its about more than just crowd averages.

Ive seen enough to know if we keep doing what we are doing where we are doing it we will end up in some god forsaken place like Perth. The NRL do not like us and will sharpen their knives very soon.

Whats more the corporate opportunities that come with identifying with a new region would be hard to overlook.

The only other option i feel is suitable is 4 games at Campbelltown and 8 at Gosford but then you risk alienating the massive Gosford market by not being all in ie the Northern Eagles

The question you should be asking yourself is Gosford or Perth!
As i said earlier its not about what we want.

I think the corporate opportunities lie in Sydney where the major national/international companies are and where the best stadiums are. Newy and Illawarra always struggled with corporate support, its only a leagues club group that has saved Newy.

So whats your plan moving forward. What do we do to keep from being relocated?

Something that just about every other club in every other code in every country does. Play out of one stadium in Sydney building corporate support and fan base. We've never tried that.

This is true.

But the options are not that great.

Bankwest, the players play like puss and show no heart.

Leichhardt not the future.

**Campbelltown a massive risk to lose lose it all within 5 years. It may work but the risk is incredibly high.**

Only leaves a place like Homebush and playing out of state teams there instead of at our spiritual home grounds will see us relocated within 3 years.

It aint a pretty picture this one you are painting.

That's a risk as a supporter of this club prior to and since the merger of basically 40 years i would be prepared to take. The current demographics of Campbelltown and the future infrastructure are only moving 1 way and thats up. The club needs to plant it's roots for the future and have a little vision of what things will look like in 2030.

To be fair i think the crowd was apprehensive and nervous. Two completed sets out of nine straight after halftime and being blown away on the scoreboard in that period took the wind out of the sails. When the crowd should have been willing the side to finish over the top of the opposition it was all over.

Sunday afternoon at Leichhardt has become the “in” thing to do... meaning there’s a good chunk of people in the crowd that are not hard core rugby league / WT fans. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, as the game needs to drive more participation from casual fans... but it does have an impact on the atmosphere IMO.

I suspect because the club (rightly) wanted to have a brand that didn’t limit it’s target market to just a few suburbs.

Don't see how calling us wests or western suburbs makes a difference in that regard.

With the upcoming renovation to ANZ (if it hapens and how long will it take ) could be a good opportunity to test a few scenarios with the building of a new club at Rozelle, the COE at Concord we could play games at LO ,Bankwest ,CSS and Tamworth.
The only proviso would be playing PARRAMATTA once per season at BW the remaining 11 games spread between CSS 5 LOO 3 and BW 3 or 2 with the other game shared between LO & CSS on a rotating basis ANZ reno will take minimum 2 years more likely 4 years to complete once reno is complete we could look at more games at ANZ leaving BW to Parra.

Not saying I agree but it’s a financial decision. Play parra at bankwest when it’s our home game and we clean up due to large crowd.

By doing this we can attract great players to our club who will only be too happy to play out their contract at the powerful WestsTigers

Unless every club takes a game to the bush - we should give Tamworth away.

Yeah, but then we probably come ninth again, only have dinosaurs like us as supporters and still suffering at the end of each season whilst similar crap to the last few years lingers on.

Edit; pretty sure that we only get a smallish percentage of the additional gate over a certain figure at the stadiums, not profits after costs.

Reckon that making the finals would be much, much, much more beneficial and not only financial, but long lasting, than the scraps we get as a bonus for the home ground crowd at Parramatta.
