Righto boys, my first attempt is fermenting away 8 days in. My plan is, and tell me where I'm wrong please.
Keep an eye on it until the air lock stops bubbling. Do a gravity test then a follow up one two days later to check it's the same level. Cool it down in fridge for two days then keg.

Should i be concerned about air being sucked into the fermenter during the cooling?

Minimise the content of the airlock and don't worry.

What you say is right. I however use a standard 2 weeks in temperature controlled fridge. Last 24 hours chill before kegging. If not temp controlled, best measure to be sure.

Yeah, I've had it in a temp controlled fridge. Best to leave it for two weeks even if no bubbling in airlock? How long do you wait after kegging?

Yeast still working if not producing alcohol. Improving flavour. Keg, charge, ready in 24 hours, though i find flavour improves after a week or two.

Good advice from the others, not a bad thing to try on your 1st brew is to drink it over the 1st couple of weeks so you can taste the flavour change over that time. Means you don't have to wait on that 1st brew but you will see the difference that it actually makes.

I call success. Pulled my first pint today. Good head, nice taste, cloudy but not unexpected. Thanks for all the advice guys. ![Resized_20201002_175038_140380566115014.jpeg](/assets/uploads/files/1601633640739-resized_20201002_175038_140380566115014.jpeg)

Looks quite good mate, as long as there are no harsh taste you have done well for your 1st brew. Don't worry about the cloudiness, though you can clear that up by cold crashing your next brew.

Nah, no harsh or bitter tastes, I'm quite surprised. I could crashed for 2 days though. There wasn't much of that brown stuff on the side of the fermenter so maybe the yeast didn't activate as much.

Did you measure the gravity?

Did you measure the gravity?

I did. It didn't go as low as wht the can suggested but was stable for 2 days. Fermented for 12 days, maybe i need a bit more patience.

Did you measure at the start as well? If you did post you starting and finishing measurements if you know them.

Can said 1008, but damned if I go thirsty because of a can.

Mate that is pretty good and I would think that your yeast did its job. That is an alcohol content of round on 5%.
