Hooker position - Thread

Another thread on hooker, I am told that Robbie already has his swag packed with Tiger gear and just waiting for the nod.

To me this was all so foreseeable and he can knock field goals over as well!

Liddle is going to be a great, but we needs a backup hooker. Cherrington would be perfect, would not cost much, gives good quick service, he has already played with Brooks before and he is a Tiger in heart.

McIllwrick wont be seen again, thats whats happening.

For whatever reason Ivan does not rate the guy. I dont either, pure reserve grader if ever there was one.

Yes he may be a better hooker than Taylor but Taylor is a million times a better footballer.

Reynolds is looking really good at dummy half, may just fix the issue.

Reynolds really good at dummy half ? his a 5/8th full stop , he took an age to decide what he was going to do with the footy yesterday , watch the last set of the game yesterday and you will see that he went from dummy half 2 metres out cause he had no idea what to do ( maybe the halves fault for not calling it not sure ) .
Benji has had his time in the sun and Reynolds needs to be there,

I think it was obvious he was trying to get a penalty for the 3 players offside right in front of him

All he had to do was use the hands to the right and we score Game over

Did you have to remind me.

I think it’s pretty obvious what Cleary’s doing…none of our hookers can get through 80mins.

ET is a great defender and I think he’s just plugging the middle and taking some of that initial contact at the start of the games.

I’d give Farah an opportunity to come home.

We would be a lot stronger with him here

Mbye
Thompson
Masters
Mahe
Naiqama
Reynolds
Brooks
Packer
Farah
Matalino
Lawrence
Mcqueen
Taylor
Eiuso
Twal
Aloiai
Grant

As much as I thought Farrah played really strongly this week when he got his chance, and also think he is probably a far better proposition than what we currently have - I still don't think we want him back at the Tigers. Just like Woods, I see it as a step backwards and potentially disruptive to the new culture that Ivan is trying build. Maybe its not even his fault but just his presence around the club and team, with all the controversy that seems to surround him - he seems to create division. Certainly amongst the fans as well.

I seem to recall in last weeks game one of the commentators saying that Liddle was wearing some sort of protective cover over his sternum, someone mentioned it I'm sure.

Not ideal.

Sternum injuries are awful. I've had a sternotomy, not sure of the nature of fractures but where my collarbone meets the sternum, I have exposed nerves as the sternum never healed correctly where it meets the clavicle. You only need place the tiniest bit of pressure on the little nubs of bone and the pain is excruciating, and aches for days afterward.

Is it something he can get over in the short term or are we looking at most of the season?

Not sure mate, just speaking from experience. Mine has never healed properly, but my sternum was sawn open. A little bit more serious than a bruise or fracture. I imagine a fracture could have similar implications if it doesn't heal right.

Listening to your experience and True Tigers it sounds like we wont be able to count on him much for the rest of the year realistically.

Ive been asking for Marshall to be benched for 6 weeks. Trouble is that right now the 9 is a bigger issue.

That said if we had a 9 Reynolds in Marshall to ISP

I'd take Cherrington for the rest of the year
… Or Farah.

Then sign Matt Parcel until Liddle is match ready.... Probably in three years.

I wish youd just come out and say you think Liddle is a bust.

Signing Parcel would see him and his manager straight off to another club.

Too negative, lol.
He might come good. Early days…

He just isn't reliable at this point for us to be claiming he's the man for the job.
We need to outsource and Parcell is the best option.

He is better than both of them - wait three years, you are having a lend of us.

He would be well gone.

Big fan of Liddle but be realistic…
Years half over and what has he done?
What happens if it happens again next year?

We can't sit around and wait.
We need a reliable #9 and Liddle isn't proving to be one.

I hope he comes good and I understand the wraps. He's only young but we need a hooker now.

If McIlwrick is a dud to the coach and we all know Godinet is trash. Elijah ain't no hooker... Release the first two and sign a real replacement.

For sure we should get rid of Godinet and McIllwrick. if they arent going to be used we would be better off with cheaper options in reserves.

Cherrington is better than both and could be used in first grade.

Parcel is the ticket tho.
