How are we going to attract decent players?

The tutelage of the SuperCoach Taylor?
The stability of the club?
The huge amount of money to be made thanks to our salary cap management and the wealth of benefactors supporting the club via 3pa?
Our roster?
Anything?

We need to actually be looking for established first graders on the market before we worry whether or not they want to come here. Something we haven't done for the last 3 yrs.

I think we need to look to buying in players from the UK .
Just done tell them what a rabble we are

Sign holden cup players, offer them 4year contracts that go up every year with an option in their favour in the last year

Lots and lots of money

The same terrible problems that got us here in the first place , what other answer can anyone else come up with

Imagine this conversation " Hi Mr Gillett , we want you to come and play for the Wests Tigers next season for the same money as you are getting at Brisbane "

Mr Gilletts question " So you want me to come and play for a side that finished 15th , move 1200 kms from my friends and family for the same money "

Answer 3 minutes of laughter then followed by the sound of the phone hanging up

It's a vicious circle I'm afraid. The club just continues to waste its dough.

Other poor (quality) teams have recruited well in recent years - Cronulla, Parramatta etc.
It's a combination of things: money, opportunity, lifestyle, coaching….
Much like any sales job, you've got to lie through your teeth and hope for the best.

Parra are probably not the best example. They are cheating the cap and will likely be 4points behind us in a week or 2.

Yes - a fair point.
Penrith are another that have recruited fairly well from a low position on the ladder.

For starters we have to move away from promoting juniors to the top grade just because they are juniors. This isnt park footy. Secondly, stop the crazy tradition of promoting NYC players to the top grade before they have earned their stripes in second division. The NYC is a putrid competition that has weakened the NRL as a product. They are all flash and no grit. They are mentally weak and not battle hardened. Their tricks rarely work at NRL level for more than a month before they are worked out and then they are exposed as frauds.

We have to get these things sorted before we start a winning culture. Only after that occurs will any good players contemplate signing here.

It starts with a strong business plan which defines the recruitment strategy.

No successful company hires the better of who applied, they keep looking if no suitable applicant are available.

This goes for Players, Coaches & Management… It's up to us to set the standard!

You think you would have been able to bank on Tupou,MacDonald or Cordner's signatures since they would have had an association with Taylor previously. With the number of players that have asked for a release, the Tigers should approach TEN & start their reality TV show I don't want to be a Tiger get me out of here to help raise funds for our spree on the player market that we have been hearing about for the past couple of years. Who wouldn't want to join the Tigers brotherhood as we are all about fairness, equality & opportunity.

Pay massive $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ then some more $$$$$$$$$$$$$….

The problem won't be solved anytime soon. I feel a little sorry for the current administration because it was the incompetence of those before them that caused our salary cap situation. Even next year we have Lawrence on $600k and Farah the best part of $1M. The club has tried to do something about this but they won't go and we bag the club for trying. I notice a lot of our signings and re-signings have been for only one or two years meaning they're gap signings. I really think this time next year we are going to be really active in the player market for the 2018 season. In the mean time I hope we can win our share of games and develop some of these young guys so at least a few of them stick with us to become really good first graders.

There is a strategic plan. It seems that no one lives by it

It's obvious that JT has no hope of getting through to them, whether that's because of the players or because of Taylors uninspiring personality, I don't know, but in all the time he's been here, I can't remember any one really inspiring interview that he's had.

It's always blaming others, making excuses and Trying to make a cow pat resemble a diamond. His selections have confused most here(at least until TT shone a bit of light on who has Entrenched themselves as JTs favourites, and why.
My opinion ( and that's all it is) is that this season has flew the coop already. Not because of a few losses, but because of the WAY that we lost. There has been NO improvement in this team at all. Spin it as much as you want, we're still a cow pat.

Leaving him in charge of this team just does more damage to the club and their chances of attracting any players.
We have the chance between now and the start of next season to start from scratch, as hardly anyone is signed past then. We do need to pay more than other clubs to convince anyone to come here.
Get rid of him now before we get any worse and install a caretaker coach until the end of this season. Then don't just accept someone's computer presentation for the job
Get the best bloke available have a word to Harry or Brydens , anyone and pay what we need to get a proven Coach. That should be our priority !!!!!!!!
As for the interim coach I don't care who it is, getPayten if we have too, (l couldn't care less if he white anted Potter or not, )at least well see if he can coach or not.

Make it clear he's an interim coach, but if he can get this rabble on track then keep him if not , he was only hired for the rest of this year anyway.
We can't afford to have JT run this club dawn any further. We're just about rock bottom
Now.
He has no ability to get through to this team .
Unfortunately we have no choice to keep the halves ( if that's what they decide ). at a grossly inflated value for next year( thanks to some dumb twit who signed their contracts with an option in their favour), but we can get rid of a lot of the once a month performers and replace them with some players who want to put in a genuine effort.
We're not going to be top four prospects for a long while , but surely we can find some players who will put in an effort every week
Or we can sit back and accept the garbage that this club is renowned for.

Exactly the picture when recruiting backpacker building labourers, they look hunky out of the gym, but can they work? do they want to work? can they cop the heat? do they know a deadline? is job more important surf? can they lift more than 5 kilos and not whinge? The new generation is soft!
