How bad is this side??

They did a really good job on Fifita, problem is they switched off against the rest of the side and Titans can attack across the park.

Some kick pressure on Fogarty wouldn't have hurt. There's a reason Don was such a threat.

Pretty bad.... though bar that 5mins, giving Titans an 18 point head start, we werent great by any means, but for the most part the rest of it wasnt horrible either.

Kicking was pretty poor tonight, but we werent entirely impotent within their 20m, werent slick, but we were probing.

There were alot of poor moments, and we generally paid dearly for them, but we also did alot of good things as well.

Im as disappointed as the next fan, but we lost that game. We were pretty good for alot of that game, but pathetic when we werent.

Good points Black and White Man. I think your point about going from pretty good to pathetic is spot on. Take out that pathetic start and we win the game. When this team can play more games without periods where they drop their bundle is when we might see a side capable of making the finals.

Joey Leilua’s TRY was brilliant to watch ...simply off the back fence from a scrum ...zero chance of stopping him... in the 1st half there were 2 other scrums virtually on the same blade of grass yet no one thought hey let’s try that again...

Now it doesn’t take a tactical genius or anything

Coming from a Joey critic, he has been good the last 2 weeks. Playing for a contract? Possibly. The silver lining is if the club activates his contract for 2022, he’ll be playing for a contract again. Then sign him for a further year, so he’s playing for a contract AGAIN.

i shudder to think what storm and or panthers are going to score against us in the coming weeks.
ive seen manly put 70 past penrith in the panthers early days and cronulla had 70 scored against them when they were down to 11 men a few years back.
The coach needs to make changes to the team and his coaching style cause it aint working.
Ironically, the bulldogs are viewed as tryhards but lack class.
The media portray the tigers as lacking effort and direction.
The wests tigers brand is on life support.Something has to change and quick for the teams immediate and long term future.

Its not that the players arent putting its that qe dont have the quality. Our 3 highest paid players are Mbye, Packer and Brooks. Find me another roster with that little star power and tell me how they go. Look at Souths took the star power out of them and they got dont by 50

I watched the Fox mini replay of the match this morning. 20 minute highlight package and Mbye breezed through the screen shot twice. Marquee stuff.

Luke Brooks deflates the team every game. His kick directly into the Titans hands on their line, and their subsequent line break was indefensible. And I've seen it all before. He has had his chance. Some users on this sub are in complete denial about him. He is one of the worst NRL halves, hands down.

You had me applauding until you wanted to dump our suburban jewels for shared, uninviting, no atmosphere stadiums.
I guess you haven’t actually been to a game for some time?

Well Im 61 and Ive been following league since I was around 5 and my dad took me to Pratten Park to see the Magpies play and Ive been a Magpie supporter since then through thick and thin, now a Wests Tigers supporter since merge.

A few observations now on this team inc coach.

* Brooks is done, for the good of both please go and try somewhere else. Take the pressure off both club and yourself.

* our players are mentally soft- no idea how to fix it, other clubs dont have as big a problem but geez, its a biggie.

* Our defence is crap, little scramble and little effort.

* Maguire is done. This season has to be his last. We need fresh ideas but we are on the correct path with developing youth and not really paying overs except for a marque player if ever we can get one for that key player. I reckon that may be more due to Hartigan than Maguire.

* Pick one homeground and for gods sake lets try to make is our castle. Campbelltown / Leichhardt doesnt do it for the team, so history aint going to drive anything (and Lidcombe is now in Parra territory). Think either ANZ stadium or Sydney FS must be it. I think the reality is we are an inner city club, so lets get our homeground somewhere there even sharing a facility is fine unless it is overly identified with a rival eg Bankwest being Parra's turf.

* Pascoe may be on his last legs and tiring of the load.

At very elast we wont be bothering the Dally M awards for this year.

I'm probably at the lowest point I've ever felt for the club. I don't recall feeling this way ever before, maybe it's age? maybe it's 10 years of this that has finally caught up, but I'm fast approaching just being over it.

Off the field, things are better at least, sorting out the cap, COE being built, but I'm not sure I have the energy anymore for this club.

I've never gone to a live game thinking "well, this will be a touch up", but I'm sure getting that now for Friday night.

Constant bagging of the current young team for years of disappointing performance on and off the field is really counter productive and doesn't encourage the young blokes we have to keep going.
So some balance is needed - Laurie Stefano Douehi Talau Mikaele Simpkins Liddle all need to be supported and given a sense that this club is building toward something even if it's not showing on the field atm. We are not the only club struggling with inconsistency under the new rules and we have probably one of most inexperienced squads.

Nope. Last went to a game at Campbelltown in late 90's before I moved out of Sydney. Since then been living in Canberra with multi year postings to Singapore , Port Moresby and Jakarta.

THat statement on a home ground reflected the players lack of effort at both Leichhardt and Campbelltown our spiritual, so called fortresses. It meant nothing to them- no fight, no honour, no effort. So, if the spiritual home grounds mean nothing to them, why should we, the poor, frustrated fans stick with that too????? eg Tommy meant something to all of us, seems like he meant nothing to the players and they didnt even try.

Saw the replays of the long range tries. Look at who chases and who gives up.

A couple of our highest paid players and so called "leaders" including a recent captain jog along.

That is attitude, and at our club the attitude stinks. Those that seem to play with the most passion are some of the forums favourite scapegoats.

Someone at the ground last night made an interesting comment. We have given up on developing juniors and recruiting mercenaries. The have no pride in the jersey and no passion for the club. They simply turn up to collect a pay check.

I always coached to the kids "no matter if you dont think you can catch someone always chase because they can trip over and then you will get them"Unfortunately the only thing a few of our higher paid players chase is the money.

Compared to our previous sides, I don't think we are that bad.

Compared to the rest of the comp in 2021, we are bottom 2-3.

I am cut from the same cloth mate, I am old West fan who used to catch the train from the country to watch them play at Lidcombe oval when I was a kid.
I then followed them out to Orana Park, there were some bad teams and lean years in that time, but the team always had a crack, unlike these pea hearts.
Your assessment of Brooks and Madge is like I wrote it myself, and the one home ground, I made a thread on that, I am deadset embarrassed to be a supporter these days.
Tommy's family must be absolutely filthy they failed to turn up twice in memory of him, the fact Madge couldn't rev them up is a sure sign he has run his race here.

I hear what you’re saying and I agree about the players attitudes, it’s the responsibility of the coaching staff to highly motivate the players for such occasions ala Roy Masters style approach!
The coach can yell, scream and pint fingers but it requires more than that in the dressing room - the guy with the porn star haircut (or someone in management) should have ensured there were motivation videos of the halcyon days of Tommy, Dorahy, Les Boyd, Dallas Donnelly cranking up to unimaginable levels in that dressing room prior to kick off ... most of these players weren’t around during those halcyon days so a chat from the coach is more akin to a bedtime story - no wonder they were sleep walking out on the field.
I’m from the Balmain side of the merger but I remember the ferocity of the Wests pack back in Tommy’s era - spine tingling stuff!!!
For the players to absorb the era of this amazing man Tommy Raudonikas it needs to be slick audio/visual cranked up to the max in the dressing room leading up to kick off.
Trust me - the major shared stadiums are a major turnoff to supporters ... I went to the 2005 Grand Final and had good seats in the members area but it was like watching a silent movie (without Charlie Chaplin) with no feel for the game, can’t hear the ref’s whistle or players.

On paper our side looks good. The coach says the right things, but they are not clicking and don't see much improvement next year. Madge would be better in putting the systems in place like Gus did at Penrith and get a young up and coming coach to get the best out of the squad.

I heard a guy on SEN during the week. He had done the stats on how many games players have played at they're current club. It was to work out how many games players have played together. I think melb had the highest count, roosters up there aswell. Of course no need to say who had the least.

I think your right, the club means little to them.
