How did it get worse?

It got worse when we decided to bring back three Tigers legends who are far too unfamiliar with winning - Sheens, Benji and Farah.

Much love and respect for the good times, but those times were a long, long time ago - and these guys don't know what success looks like now.

prime time,to jump ship with Redcliffe starting up.LOVE them HATS.little lone the 3 wins in a row that we havent seen from The Tiges in 7? years.there needs 2b a death blow to the board n above, but from past posts its a closed loophole, would take 10yrs to infiltrate.all you worried about lack of action, buy a West Magpie membership and give it to the board there big time.

We've gone backwards. We hire Sheens as a manager of football. It's his idea to sack Maguire. Without a real plan in place to replace him, or anyone lined up. He pulls the trigger and fails to recruit a new coach.

He then decides that the best person to fill the void is himself and a bloke who has never coached a game of footy in his life.

Sheens was punted for a good reason. He couldn't get the side to defend. He played favourites with the squad and let better players languish in reserve grade or head off to other clubs. Consistently picked insane benches and selected a back on the bench which he used for the remaining 5 minutes. The team was inconsistent, disjointed and should have won at least one grand final between 2009 - 2011.

He then goes off to England, and doesn't fare much better. Kicks around as GM of football at a few clubs. Coaches Hull KR out of the championship and then languishes at the bottom of the ladder for the next 2 years and gets punted after losing 6 on the trot.

We're getting exactly what we signed up for. This is it. This is the clubs great vision. We're not talking about a guy who has reinvented himself. Or who has developed or progressed at all. We're talking about a washed up has been who is doing the same thing he did 10-15 years ago.

I honestly don't know how anyone at the club expected this to make things get better.

If you always do what you always did, you'll always get what you always got"

This is what we had, this is what we did, this is what we'll get again.

It was too inbred. I am glad David Furner is around because we needed some old school coaches.

I remember commentators were talking about Siebold coming to Manly, but he had Jim Dymmoch and Shane Flanagan as assistants. ...

That said, honestly I think we are in a far better place then 2022. I remember game 6 thinking "they are doing the same thing again and again, loosing the same way again and again. ... Rest Assured dear Tigers fans, we have now found many more interesting ways to loose!

Talking about non-performers with lack of on-field results over YEARS!!!.
How about hagi & pascoe???
With new performing CEO & Chairman, we can start talking about attracting a top flight coach then enticing/retaining top players!

Hagipantelis is a Nick Politis wannabe. He might be a good lawyer, but the bloke comes across as an absolute pissant who demands respect that he has in no way earned.

The sooner he and Pascoe are gone the better.

Be careful because you will upset the Sheens fan brigade most of whom are hiding and waiting for a win to come out and gloat.Sheens destroyed our club's chances and salary cap at the end of his first tenure and will pro

It is quite noticeable that most of Sheens biggest supporters are not posting or if they do they are directing all blame for his failure elsewhere. If we do get a win at some stage i am sure they will all be back on here gloating

I'm not sure that we are worse - we aren't performing without a doubt.

While it isn't working well for us at the moment we have made great strides in our forward signings and they are locked in for a couple of seasons. I am sure that the plan for this season was to get a pack that isn't dominated to give the backs an opportunity to shine. It wasn't too long ago that many were extolling the prowess of AD and providing excuses for his performance at the back end of last season. I expect that Sheens and Co. were of the same opinion and were expecting much better from him and his sidekick Brooks.

We have no depth in our backline and AD/Brooks have proven to be poor. We're stuck with Brooks for the season on silly money, and at least 50% of this forum were ready to throw decent money at AD to lock him in for us. the club has shown great restraint in not doing so and only giving him 12 months.. Same with no contract offer for Daino and Brooks.

So where we are makes sense - we have a passable forward pack and there was an expectation of more from Brooks and AD behind it. Sheens knows we need to make moves on a 1, 6 and 7 but we can't at the moment so we just have to be patient and suck up the shit our backs, and a couple of forwards, are dishing up at the moment. It is a hard position for Sheens and Co to be in - they know we need some quality signings but he has to show faith in those running on each week (even if inwardly he want to strangle them).

For those reason I'm not prepared to throw Sheens and Co. under the bus just yet. I was, and still am, dirty on Sheens for giving up last season and throwing Noddy under the bus. But the past is the past. We have to get through 23 with the roster we have and build towards 25.

Although we don't have any points on the board, there has been some improvement in the backs over the last four weeks. Unfortunately, we started from such a low base that it is still well below FG standard. I expect incremental improvement if we settle on a combination and stick with it. I know that our Dally M Halfback of the Year and AD are more capable than what they have demonstrated. I also expect that Wakeham will improve. Not enough to make us a force this year but enough to finish above Saints and Newcastle.

We don't have any better halves in reserve grade so I expect we will continue to Brooks and Wakeham for the rest of the season. AD is simply woeful at present and needs to spend some time in the lower grade - if for nothing more than getting him to pull his head out of his arse. We have Staines and Daino to cover for him while he attitude adjustment takes place.

The telling factor will be what happens with Brooks' contract.

Until then we need to identify a workable 1.6,7 combination and then stick with it

A lot of forum members have very short memories.

Last year we won a grand total of four games.

Nobody is happy at a 0-4 start to the season but to claim we're doing worse is Chicken Little stuff.

Our defence has improved on 2022 and once some of the combinations with the new boys start to click, we'll improve on last year.

Deep down I really want to believe the same will occur. And there are some glimpses of improvement especially in our defence.
My biggest gripe is that every can see Brooks is not a 7, so why does Sheens persist with him.
I know we can't keep chopping and changing the spine, but he needs to get Brooks out of the 7 jersey for his own benefit. I don't know were he puts him but no where he is needs to make strategic calls .
Being 0-4 whilst disappointing how we improve during the season is more important.
Sheen and co need to unlock our 1,6, and 7 problem how long and how they do it is a reflection on them.
I just hope we don't publish which players we are hunting to do this, as we usually end up with egg on face.

Not all doom & gloom! The key stats we are losing are 1 - completion rate, 2 - conversion inside the attacking 20 & 3 - kicking metres.

If we can find that completion rate we had against the Raiders in the trial TICK
Make Wakeham our number one final tackle kicker (only Doeuihi for the occasional floating bomb) TICK

The big one is our attacking structure inside attacking 20. If we keep working this & have Wakeham as a number 1 receiver, I'm confident this will improve as combos gel.

I am over the attacks on Pascoe.

He is the GM, Lee H is chairman of the board. Their job is too:
get good recruitment.
Get good TPA's i.e. Easts style.
appoint the right football people.

They are back of house not front of house. Our failure in 2023 is front of house.

Now Lee H should have taken more scrutiny on the Sheens coaching position. It was a hard decision and someone external should have been moved in. Benji should have been properly set up to find a coaching career.

Pascoe's job is to keep the club running and ensure back of house stuff is done. It's being done. The only thing I blame Pascoe for is the delays to the COE, that's it.

Lets blame front of house stuff where it lays. Not keep bashing back of house people for on field performances.

Pascoe has had a say in on field stuff just as much as anyone else. The core of this mess starts at the top of tree which Pascoe sits comfortably on top of, followed by his little buddy Lee.

You said it right there. He's responsible for appointing the right football people. He failed there miserably which leads to onfield performance.

You can't have an organisation where the Chief Executive Officer who is the BOSS is not responsible no matter how bad things get .
The WESTS TIGERS performance is so bad that a target is being drawn on the clubs back and that will make the NRL consider making the club relocate
that will mean only the term " tigers " will survive and the boys at Ashfield will be left running Wests Magpies cup and junior teams just like Newtown and Bears
If it was Perth Tigers they've lost me . If Central Coast Tigers I'm in
This won't happen before 2026 and Nrl would probably arrange brand new funding
I hope none of this happens but pressure will mount to have one less Sydney team and two more teams from elsewhere eg Pacific nations or PNG but please no Perth
