How Does the NRL Cap Operate?

oooh - too easy - every team has a salary cap - a limit - except for the bulldogs and roosters who have salary cap exemptions.

Yes AHX those clubs have taken over from Manly.

And Cronulla!

Sharkies, all but kicked out or shipped off to Perth or Queensland then next minute buying up big, fair point you have there Flip.

That's right, Cunno, it just doesn't make sense to me - the funds in their cheque book are endless!

I don't think they'd be too many sharks players on top dollar , Gallon , Fifita & maybe Lewis ?
The rest of their squad are washed up hacks that every other club has rejected getting paid minimal coin .

True Hobbo, they do have a lot of other clubs' rejects in their side, mainly ours  However, Lewis and Gordon were at the top of their game when they signed, so I doubt they would've come over for pittance. Tupou has had a lot of injuries, but he would still be on good coin, Wade Graham was being chased by other clubs, so his contract would've been upgraded recently and they've just signed Ennis, Beale and Barba - not low paid players I'd imagine. So I still think that something fishy is going on in Shark territory.

We've just had piss poor management for quite a while and now were paying the price .
Farah is no way worth $900k
Blair was no way worth $500k
Plus all of the tiger shark players sucking cash from the kitty .. Something's gotta give !!

If anyone knows really knows how it works, please go and tell WT management asap.

Flip , haven't you heard , women don't ever listen to men

Mayer, Moss and Taylor are women??? :astonished:

No but Mrs Go is

Don't think she would have the major say in salary cap issues, Happy - that would fall to the 3 hombres I mentioned. Also, Go isn't the _only_ Board member we have, so why does everyone always just focus on her and make out that she is the main decision maker?

The one thing the salary cap fails to address is junior development. If a club develops a player through to Holden Cup, it should be entitled to a percentage of any contract that player signs with another club for a period of time. TPAs need to be changed to no more than 10% of the players contract and limited to one TPA per player. Then the NRL need to get off their a%se and increase the cap to ensure marque players fit into the competition but not all at one or two clubs. Now I need to take a blood pressure pill!

I don't know how to post a link but this is an interesting read on how the rich clubs get away with it ….go to ...

There's a good reason for that Happy

Because they are as stubborn as mules and can never admit they could ever be possibly wwwwwwrong

Sounds pretty well right Happy,I think it is bred into them, seems a fair amount of them have the same trait….
Maybe Tigermama could be the only exception though..

There are some that you can have sensible conversations with,as long as your not in a relationship with them or married to them....

I wonder why that is...........

We can't complain , we had Wade McKinnon and he was free for the first season

And should have been Happy.

In fact they should have paid us a squillion to take him! What a Dud!

I would like to ask a question for someone to answer for me if they can…..

Why do we have a salary cap Auditor and when does he intervene if clubs are rorting the system,he would be given all the agreements and contracts to look over at some point and make an assessment of the said salary cap per team??

Because the sides that are rorting the system probably have two contracts

One for the NRL , one for the player

If it was as clear as that they would of caught everyone out
