How funny would it be...

…if after all the excitement over the Roosters and Rabbits this year, both of them bomb out and we get something like a Storm-Sea Eagles or Bulldogs-Sharks grand final. I would almost prefer that because it would be so unexpected.

Roosters are the only team that have displayed form the week before the finals. Should be an interesting few weeks

the weight of expectation could be too overwhelming for these two teams in the finals.

regardless, it is going to be great to watch all the teams in the top 8, bash the crap out of each other

Are people still pretty much thinking teams 5 to 8 are just making up the numbers?

Probably, although it's a whole new ball game once the finals start and anything can happen I guess. Often there has been one team in the bottom half of the 8 who makes a bit of a challenge during the finals and this year I reckon that could be either Cronulla or the Cowboys. The Cowboys have a lot of momentum going in, much like Canberra did a few years ago and Cronulla certainly have the players to cause an upset or two, but ultimately I still think the winner will come from the top 4.

Will be made even funnier as the cowboys have sacked there coach! What happens if they make a major play in the finals?

if knights are in the grand final- they will make it all about buderus
if it's sharks- it will be about how they overcame all the asada crap
bulldogs- barba crap
cowboys- bowen

no matter who makes it- the media will go into overdrive regardless via picking some sort of a story

Buderus and Bowen deserve whatever media spotlight comes their way if their respective teams make the GF.
What will piss me of if the Roosters and Souths make the GF and its all about SBW and the Burgess Brothers ( and mum ).
I really can't see myself watching the game.

you'll keep seeing buderus' family / bowen's family on tv the whole time then imo.
i just wish the media reports even on the losing sides as well. for e.g. cowboys improvement- if they get knocked out of first game.

Well, the chances of an all-Sydney grand final are huge now, because it will be:

either the Rabbitohs, Sea Eagles or Sharks

versus

either the Roosters, Storm, Bulldogs, or Knights

So it's already confirmed that there will be one Sydney team, and there's a 50% chance that the other team will be a Sydney one.

The NRL won't let that happen.
Souths v Easts is locked in.

Agree. The refereeing bias towards Souths and the Roosters this week will be the deciding factor in the prelim finals. It will be sickening to watch. Just referee the game fairly and let the best teams win on their own merits.
