How long before you get notified of a speeding fine/any other fine in NSW?

Went past this weird white trailer thing in the evening travelling to the east coast if Tasmania after hiking around Cradle Mountain today.

My young bloke said he saw some kind of flash, so I asked about it when I reached our B&B farm stay, and they said it was almost certainly one of the newer mobile speed cameras. Apparently they tow them, drop them off on the side of the road and leave them for varying periods.

Expecting an email from the rental car mob soon, with an administration fee from them to boot.
No signage indicating mobile speed camera ahead, or your speed has been checked? Why do they keep saying they will do this but never do

Mine just rocked up in the Service NSW app after 12 days, no letter yet. Interestingly even though the fine is in the app, my demerits in the app haven't changed? Did I escape demerits or are these recorded separately?

I've been done several times before, just didn't have the app installed previously.
Demerits are not recorded until the fine is paid or otherwise resolved. That allows for the possibility of another driver being nominated or some other outcome being arrived at other than the imposition of demerits.

your demerits will go a few days after you pay the fine

what got you? mobile speed camera?
Fixed... Hume hwy Bankstown... I never drive there that time of day, wait at lights Stacy St lights turn green turn left yiure immediately in a school zone.... Didn't see the sign which was behind a tree
But I wasn't concentrating

I can still remember when at the time Qld Police Minister Vaughn Johnson swore speed cameras wouldn't be on downhills .......etc .....yet one of the worst downhills on Mt Crosby Rd on your way to Ipswich as you pass Sellars Cement and Tivoli State School from the other side ...they are their all the time .....the hill is that steep it's hard to actually watch your speedo ...watch for cement trucks leaving Sellars ...and the reasonab;ly heavy traffic coming from the other direction ...same as you enter Karalee on Junction Rd ...buggers sit on either of the steep hills just before the Welcome to Karalee sign

They justify it by saying that in these situations the risk of accidents occuring is higher. You can argue it's revenue collecting but speeding downhill does increase the chances of something terribly going wrong compared to a flat open road.

Think it’s psychological but I never understand why people speed or drive fast - especially with gps now and having exact time of arrival. I speed up 10-15 km hr and I only take off 1-2 mins off the arrival time… faster I go it barely shaves off any time of the arrival time
I dont think anyone never speeds...it just happens to all of us

Yeah some fools think theyre Brocky, but who hasnt crept over the limit accidentally

Theres something similar on Homebush Bay drive at Rhodes occasionally I think its a mobile phone detection camera...has solar panels and is perched high above the traffic

Cruise control is handy on the freeways, I set it to the furtherest setting to the car in front so it keeps a safe distance apart, then have a little sleep
Mate has anti tailgate feature on his car.
I usually have to speed when the slow coach I’ve been following at various speeds of 85-90 hits an overtaking lane and suddenly puts his foot down.

Has anyone seen the tv series Reno 911.
The big cop was passenger and the other was the redneck. They were driving down the road really fast when the redneck say to the other cop, "man I just had this wildest dream"
The big cop says, "you know your driving hey"
You then heard crashing sounds. 🤣🤣

I had diarrhoea the other night and wouldn’t have made it had I not been 10-15km over the whole way home. Cut about 10 mins off the trip (minimal lights/intersections and late at night).

Lol bro if you have diarrhoea every seconds counts man!!!

Cause I do delivery driving on weekends as well as my day job and generally no matter how quick I drive it really doesn’t make a substantial difference

Not speeding but fine related.
We moved to NSW from Brisbane June 2021. Notified every conceivable authority/ utility/ nobody and their cat.
We have a dog and so registered him straight away with the local council.
January 2022 we get a letter from Brisbane City Council telling us we owe them $350 dollars for not notifying them that the dog had moved.
Despite us telling them we had moved and giving them our new address, they hadn't sent the initial fine to or subsequent reminders/ doubling tripling of fine to us in NSW until notifying me I would be on SPURS. This was immediately followed by a letter of demand from a Melbourne-based solicitor.
I filed an appeal straight away online and sent proof of the dog being registered in NSW.
No answer until today, one year later notifying me the appeal was successful. Unbelievable.
