How much money will we have to spend on the open market for 2018?

Considering there's no one contracted beyond 2017, it appears the club will have a war chest with Farah gone, possibly the halves, Siro etc. The only player on our roster worth throwing any significant cash at would be the Camden kid. You could maybe make a case for Woods, but he's coasting on his reputation so far this yr.

So what are the predictions for what will be the amount we will have to play with? The whole cap? Half? And what players that are taking the field this week that you believe will still be at the club come 2018\. Imo the side will be unrecognisable.

In regards to the last question, the first graders I think we should keep are below. I'm tryng to be realistic, reward effort and keep in mind your top 25 has to include a fair few squad players like Lovett and Rankin who offer depth and professionalism.

Most telling for me is the list of players I rated 6 weeks ago and now want gone asap. Top of the list nofo, kev, brooks, sirro and finally cherry, who went backwards this year.

We have some big decisions to make. A lot of our players have flaws in their game but who knows if the right coaching would fix that.

For instance Sue can be great but he comes up with the occasional dumb play can kill us. Lawrence has improved a lot but last week you saw him not moving up on the inside and we got busted out wide. Naiqama has been great but is rushing up in defence way too much and we are getting smashed on that side.

Going to the market is hit and miss as well. This year I think we've recruited really well but we haven't bought anyone who can really make a difference to our squad. We don't need though another Blair signing for instance.

We have the whole cap at this stage but Lawrence will probably be renegotiated into a 2018 or 2019 deal. My priorities at this stage would be:

I like the look of MCK and some of the young ones like JAC, Liddle, Felise will be worth hanging onto but too early to tell for sure yet.

A lot depends on who else we might secure which of course determines who we might need to hang onto. A good squad still needs toilers like Lovett and all-rounders like Rankin (just not on the damn wing!).

We have some decent forward size coming through the juniors like Felise, Tatola, Marsters and Paseka (120kg at age 18) but who knows how many of them will kick on. Felise looks likely but the rest are wait and see prospects.

Norman is asking Parramatta for at least 700k.

Only problem Geo, is that everyone elses, bank account will have the same amount as us to start.
I still think that all that will happen, is that players will cost more, and the good players will still go elsewhere, to where the TPAs ARE greener.

Players to some extent have more bargaining strength next year, as they know that most clubs are in the same boat, and dont have many signed. In a lot of cases this year it has been players who wanted to be off contract when the rise comes in , so they can cash in on the extra money
i cant see us being any better off , as far as costs are concerned, and well still have to pay overs in most cases.
Maybe Im wrong, but I dont see the extra money helping clubs any more, than the current money does now ,
