I was wondering why we head hunted a couple of blokes from the Chook’s and Storm 🧐😎

🤔 to see if any magic dust rubs off ?
Interesting that it hasn’t on quite a few occasions.

So where exactly are these two clubs hiding that mystical thing called winning culture? Could it be that they are heavily invested in organisational development? Or simply have truckloads of cash? Or is it a combination of both those ingredients?

No blame placed on NRL. Introduce a draft and you might have a more even competition and fans of 14 other clubs may be more inclined to go to games, buy memberships, buy jerseys etc.

One of the GF spots is basically locked in before the season even starts.

Wow 17 appearances between them in 22 years and of those 9 wins combined. No wonder i don't have the same interest in the game i had 10 years ago.

Rightly or wrongly, it often appeared to me ever since the Storm began they favourably got the rub of the green, had more money thrown at them etc. Because it was so important to the game’s popularity that they develop a strong foothold in Victoria. I mean nothing attracts fans like victory right?
I think after 22 years the time has come to take off their training wheels.

And in 22 years @twentyforty, how much improvement has there been in promoting junior RL players from schools thru the ranks to play top class Rugba League.
None that I know of, which is pretty pathetic considering the $$$$ the Storms have received.

How do we improve?

Recruit and retain our quality juniors

Build a side around some key quality signings

Continue our off field financial and capital growth

Strong sponsorship growth

Never settle for second best in any aspect

I don’t know where they came from, but 21 players from the 2020 had their debut with the club.

@HappyTiger

Those are all great ideas. Does it ever look like, I mean as a fan, that we’re looking at treating the symptoms and fixing the actual problem? Let me put this to you? Because those goals are pretty much what Tim Sheens was spruking. What have been the road blocks to our success with those goals? And how do we remove them so that we can put the foot to the floor.?

Its simple and we've had many players tell us why ....instead of taking it on board we have everyone throwing the toys out of the cot

Retaining the right juniors

Players see us as a non premiership threat

Players get overlooked at rep level

Multiple home grounds

Answer is simple ...start winning football games and making the finals

This is true. I'd say that after all their success in the big league, the kid's competitions all across the state would be almost non existent. A fair measure of success in my opinion would be to assess the growth of the game across the state in all age groups rather than a first grade team with terrific recruitment strategies. Melbourne do nothing for the sport in my opinion. The club itself is a winning one though. Talk about smoke and mirrors.

Well it seems fairly log sided between both these Teams but i suppose they have the best structures in place.
Roosters tend to buy whom they want to fill any gaps.
Storm Trio of Smith/Cronk/Slater with Bellamy over many years.

As a club we have under performed, poor coaches, not retaining quality players, Salary cap breach, Paying overs on players.

On the bright side GF now always next year and only way is up.
