How rigged is the NRL? We need a draft.

The more I think about it...
The roosters supporters were rare as hens teeth. Now they have grown after winning so many premiereships (with the dodgiest player buying record) to a fanbase about 2/3rds most clubs.
Storm were always going to struggle in Melbourne. Yet what do the AFL and NRL do, let most of their fans have heartbreak while this interstate team that most Melbournites don't care about (as most sydney siders don't give a stuff about the swans or Riants) win a stack of finals.

Ofcourse both teams are pushing the cap. Yet ofcourse they are doing something right.
The big surprise is Brisbane's implosion. You would think with 2-3 names clubs would be falling over themselves to sign that Wooden spoon was off the table. Surprise, there was a worse coaching choice then Jason Taylor!

And from all those years, 11 of the 16 clubs have won a premiership, and only the Titans have not made a grand final appearance. We just have to be better.

Yep, fans blaming the NRL for our crapiness just relieves the club of any pressure to produce something that resembles a football club.

No blame placed on NRL. Introduce a draft and you might have a more even competition and fans of 14 other clubs may be more inclined to go to games, buy memberships, buy jerseys etc.

One of the GF spots is basically locked in before the season even starts.

NO draft - just get rid of the people organising the rigged comp.

Or we could improve

How do we improve?

There is only one way forward for this club and it has always been the only way. Luckily it's slowly being dealt with and will still take some time to see the results but it has to be from within and from junior development. Our club has shamefully dropped the ball for near on a decade when it comes to our juniors and it is still going to take time, effort and long term structures to reap rewards.
We have a massive area to draw from but for whatever reason ( i have my own theories) there is a disconnect between our juniors and how they develop and go on to NRL, and where those that do, end up playing.
Below is the Panthers G/F squad. I have omitted the players that haven't been developed by them.
Panthers: Dylan Edwards, Brent Naden , Stephen Crichton , Brian To’o , Jarome Luai , Nathan Cleary , James Fisher-Harris, Viliame Kikau (bought after playing 20's for Cowboys), Liam Martin, Isaah Yeo ,Tyrone May , Moses Leota, Mitch Kenny, . Matt Burton, Spencer Leniu

You can clearly see with some experienced players thrown in among them you can build a great team by developing your own. It takes money, good planning and the right people in place. ( Dare i say a "five year plan")

2011 ...Null

My bad, my memory said Roosters Warriors but it was manly

It's funny, yesterday I was shocked to read it was Warriors Manly. I also remembered it as Warriors Roosters.

I was trying to find out how many Victorian born players that came through the Melbourne junior system have gone on to play NRL. Although there have been a half a dozen Victorian born I could only find one who came through the junior system. Any ideas?

Mahe funua.

The Brisbane winger also, played Aust Schoolboys. His name escapes me.

Coates?
