Humphreys or Noyce. Which CEO is better??

You can't compare them.

Noyce got the ball rolling and built towards the success that we now enjoy. He also led the club to the maiden premiership (as well as you can from the front office anyway.)
Humphrey's took over the club in a different phase and has built upon that success and we now also enjoy a competitive (as well as entertaining,) team on the paddock. He's made a few tough decisions which he obviously has felt will benefit the club and it's fans, despite some of the regular Donald Trumps on here attacking his business acumen.

Both have led the clubs during two entirely different phases. Even if we win a premiership in Humphrey's time here, there's still no way to make an accurate comparison.

Both have been great for the club in their own ways.

Does anyone remember the bleating here when we got rid of the clown from Cronulla!?!?!?!

"But Tim wont listen to me about KPI's!!!!"

In an interesting side note, I read a couple of weeks ago a news article about the board room bloodshed at Manly and my ears pricked up when I read that one of the board members tried to assign KPI's to Des Hasler who basically told him to stick em and lets worry about winning comps.

Noyce was responsible for a complete culture change and was part of a premiership side .
Humpty moved the goalposts on a very ordinary chapter in Weststigers history. It was totally unethical what his role was in the Molzten saga and it will change the way future deals are done .
Noyce is way above humpty imho

They have both done a good job and its hard to say whos better….Both different styles so a tie.

noyce has made some shocking decisions at roosters....thats if he runs the show which i doubt he does.

Yeah I think you mean Politis has made some decisions
I think Noyce would be Politis's puppet
Not a pretty picture if you picture it 😱pen_mouth:

Noyce is closer to the fans.Humphries never mingles with fans.Steve Noyce would of got us to another premiership by now. He is a God..

Equally as important in their respective roles.

As CB alluded to Noyce picked us up from the floor after all of the pitfalls that we fell into as a club. He rebuilt a culture to some extent and bought about alot more confidence in the WT brand.

However Steve was limited in his ability and the handling of alot of matters after the premiership win showed his limitations as a CEO. He was great at what he did for us though insofar as building a core foundation of trust in the playing group and dealing with an often militant, factionally divided board.

Humphreys is a step up in terms of the commercial side of a football club and he is exactly what was required for the club to take that next step and begin to become a real power player in terms of Sydney clubs. The stewardship of Humphreys and Trodden has seen the club move into a highly influential role in both the NRL and in negotiations for the Independant Commission and our new director is no doubt going to continue the growth of this power base.

There will come a time when Mr. Humphreys may no longer be able to push the club and the brand as high as it needs to go and than it will be time to step up again.

From a commercial and recruitment point of view, I'd say Humphreys. As somebody said on a thread on few weeks ago, gone are days of Herbal World, Radisson Maine and JFTA, we now have sponsors people are actually aware of and trust. Despite the fact people don't like us playing at big grounds I.E SFS, the current business model is sustainable and allows supporters from all across Sydney to see us play, there by increasing our target market.

Recruitment wise, Noyce was stubborn post-2005\. Bar Gareth Ellis, I cannot remember ONE marquee signing we made after the premiership victory. The results got worse and worse, and we persisted with keeping dead wood who hadn't performed for 3 years. His failure to attract big names to such a marketable club was an indictment on the recruitment program.

Although not every recruit Humphreys has made has been brilliant, his enthusiastic approach is something unique to the club. Not to mention the two big names we have purchased the last couple of years in Tuqiri and Blair. Even if neither are playing their best, their presence alone is a bonus to the club.

Jamahl Lolesi, Ryan O'Hara?

Lolesi and O'Hara? Both solid players, not marquees, both on one year contracts as well. Noyce made no effort to retain either, although O'Hara was injury plagued, best getting him off the payroll.

Yep but steve is making us stronger with sponsers and big names blair lote and re signed our young talant. And more to come even as early as next year we might see a marqree signing if lote leaves so we have to wait and see so far his doing a gud job for the tigers.

Yeah, good point TR4L. Good to see Humphreys making a concerted effort to sign quality young players like Woods, Groat and Dwyer. Fifita, yeah, good player, but replaceable.

There's no doubt that Noyce tried to throw the net out and nab some proven players at other clubs. These guys were performing at their previous clubs, they just didn't work out for us. Does not mean they weren't marquee signings…

Interesting that you throw Trodden in there, what kind of role does he actually play within the club? Is he actually involved with much or just a figurehead? It seems he is well regarded though, because even though Bailey is now the chairman, it seems as though people see Trodden as the figurehead still….it seems a little confusing.

David Trodden still has an influence as he is the NRL clubs elected rep to deal with the NRL on salary cap etc.

David is involved with the club as much as possible I believe and he and Bailey have a solid working relationship by all reports
