I cannot believe some of the comments made by Stephen Humphreys on the Game Plan.
I had many years experience in top-level management of some public companies, which were very successful companies. There is no way you let a business run for twelve months before you “undertake a review”. By the time you do this year’s review to see how you are going, you could well be bankrupt! All well-run companies do monthly reviews against budgets, so the management knows how things are progressing. Possible changes to the operation to address problems before they become huge can be made based on the on-going monthly results. Mr. Humphreys would be well aware of this!
In the last six years, the home-and-away crowd for all NRL games has increased by 4.2 per cent. In this period, the total home crowd for Wests Tigers has DROPPED by 4.5 per cent. The Wests Tigers home crowd has fallen 9.1 per cent from 17,852 to 16,227 for 2012 compared to 2011\. This drop in attendance means there is about $50,000 drop in revenue for each home game or $600,000 for the year.
Very well put together, they were probably counting there chickens before they hatched , half way in the year when we went on that run of wins that we would make the semi's and everything would be rossy and get the extra revenue and ticket sales etc. would look after itself . How wrong they were now it's desperate times .
If tigers fans don't see a change in the offseason with coaching staff , season tickets will be low , i fear tough times ahead , hope i'm wrong.
When some poor refereeing decisions cost the Tigers some games late in the year, Mr. Humphreys said our failure to make the Finals would cost the Tigers $400,000 in bonuses from our sponsors. How many Clubs could cover the loss of $1,000,000 revenue for the season?
If Mr. Humphreys and Wests Tigers do not make major, successful changes for the 2013 season, the Tigers will be in a downward, financial spiral, which may take some years to turn-around.
