I am so over Utai

His defence is a liability and he is too short to contest the high ball , he just should not be there if he was any good he would still be at Canterbury on wing but they worked that out a long time ago now we have the problem ,one of many with our back line.

I don't know why the wingers keep getting the blame for the inside defenders not sliding across but I thought Utai had a great game showed he wants his wing spot back he was terrific.

OP should change his username to Oxygen "thief". Utai was one of the only players that could hold his head high for a solid 80 minute effort. Most of our other players only showed some ticker for 20 minutes when it looked like we were a chance of winning.
Utai has earnt his spot for next week regardless of who is available.

Looked like a man who knew his days are numbered given the Richards signing unless he gave Wests no choice but to re-sign him. He was running the ball like a man possessed. I definitely wouldn't mind seeing him given another yr where he can be used as an impact forward off the bench

Utai getting knocked on his game last night is unbelievable. He was one of our best. Scored a great try. Carted the ball up as well as anyone. Defensively he is fine. It is just the ball in the air.

All last year he was great. One game this year he had bombs raining down on him and of course he stuffed up. We need some way to cover this deficiency up though because he offers us so much.

Play utai at centre i think, i can see his value in his running game but he simply cannot play wing being that short. Centre allows you to take those hit ups and play almost the same game he did tonight without having to contest aerially as much. Unsure about his defence at centre though, never seen him there.

Admirable performance by him nonetheless, clearly trying to show potter why he should be in the 13.

I agree..and when our forwards are tired he can bring some good go forward

I only saw the second half and thought he was average, although tried hard. His tackles werent effective, Hodges bounced off him all night.

Backrow rotation. His days on the wing are numbered once Marika gets back, but i see some value in him running at tiring forwards.

so hard to tackle, would be nice if they could have made him taller in the off season…....what about lifts in his boots?

I don't know why being tall is a prerequisite for being an impact forward. He busts the line no matter who he runs at. I'd rather a short forward than a short winger.

Utai was fine, made a couple of errors.
but as usual showed his usual heart and took the ball forward very well.

Nailed it ..

Everyone makes mistakes, Utai is not a superstar but his effort and commitment cant be questioned. Just like Beau Ryan was for us, he wasnt a superstar but he gave it his all.

I'm sorry, but there are a few other players in the team i would pick on before i go close to pointing my finger at Utai..

because, power = speed x mass
he's quicker than most forwards (i hope) so it could work but to answer your question being tall gives more mass without compromising speed to much cause you get longer limbs too. Look at usain, hes like 6' 4 or something so being tall helps speed and gives more mass.

Brisbanes game plan KICK it to Utai and go to Utai. He does not stand in the line???

Exactly. Starts our set of 6 off slowly when they kick to him. He doesn't recover to take a hit-up for another couple of tackles, if not until the next set. Is error riddled, and makes his inside centre nervous at the thought of leaving him 1 on 1 with his opp. winger (not to mention how nervous he makes us in the stands). His carries this year have been 5m at best, so about as far as Heighno… And Potter really has to bite the bullet and give some new blood a go! Don't care if we lose
Many more games down that wing but go for an u/20 (or Simona as starting winger!). @tigerBenji UTAI should only be playing for the Auburn Bulls.

I know he is great at making tackle busts and metres etc. But he is just too much of a liability in defense and in the air. He is simply too small for a winger these days and I cringe nearly everytime somebody passes to him because he always knocks it on.

Sheens tried that, and what an abject failure it was, like most of Sheens positional switches were.

Utai played well tonight, certainly compared to the Newcastle game. Maybe being dropped to states is what the players on our team need right now.

Utai put everything into his attacking game last week. With regards to his defensive game a winger needs support from his outside centre but this support has not been up to requirements since the season began. Hopefully the new centres playing this week will provide that defensive support.

I have been over the guy since we signed him he should have retired in 2004 after matt Sing leaped over him 4 times ever since then people worked him out easy
