I love Michael Potter, but he has to go

I agree with Happy, NT, Smurf and this from
Supercoach:
"The NRL is a very hard competition to compete in, but to do it with next to no money, injuries galore, sub standard facilities, backroom brawls and a playing roster that has a lot of weak links makes the task impossible. Do not shoot the coach, fix the mess that he is forced to work in"

Is it too much to ask that the new board is capable of this change? That's the real question…

I agree with Supercoach, but I think Parramatta may have proven this year that a team that puts in can compete. Their board is not much better than ours, they lack financial grunt and they have players brought in on big bucks but didn't perform, yet they are not getting flogged this year and are a chance of making the 8.

I don't want to elude to the fact that some of our guys aren't putting in because they have their noses out of joint about how they have been treated…but I fear that may be exactly what is happening.

Big difference is they have kept the majority of their squad on the park TS

yep 100% , i believe if we were not hit hard with injuries in key positions we would of made the semi's

Whilst I respect everyone's right to post whatever they like, I think the original post is complete dribble, some of the worst I have ever read.

Once a board is in place that supports their staff, the CEO, has some genuine direction and stops the imbecilic infighting and media leaking, then this club will chug along like a healthy steam train, WITH Potter in the engine tooting the horn!

I love my wife but maybe she should go , what a spew feast , nothing and I mean nothing is going to save this club until ALL the cancer is cut out!

I find all the talk about cancer in the board or management or whatever a load of palava. Its up to the players and coaching staff to win games and if the players aren't performing for the coach or the board they should be sacked.

I'm not sure if Potter should go or not but we need a coach who can make the right decisions and we need the players that can win games. Potter has made some blunders such as:-

1\. Forwards playing in the centres and getting burned.
2\. Letting Koro go and not giving him a chance.

Some players have also shown that they are not really up to first grade footy at this point as well and some players obviously need to go. Gavet and his poor discipline being an obvious choice.

The club should look at the performance of the team objectively and see if changes need to be made and then make those changes if required.

Mick Potter doesn't need to go

Mick Potter needs a board and a CEO that will back him 100% no matter what he does

If that means putting every player on notice , so be it

Mick isn't the problem , The WT's mentality is

I agree it starts from the top

2 things Happy -
1\. yes - Potter does not need to go - but he should pull his finger out of his arse
2\. "Mick isn't the problem, The Wt's mentality is" - well, sorry to ask a silly question but isn't the mentality supposed to come from the coach.

No AHX , it came from day dot of the WT's existence and hasn't really ever changed

It comes from the way the JV was set up

Someone needs to come in with no bias and needs to change everything about this club without fears of reprisal from Wests ,Balmain ,anyone

Potter MUST STAY!!!!

He is too good to let go - we could possibly go another 50 years before we would find another as good as Mick.

The list of possible replacements posted on the Forum was basically ludicrous - put them all together and they would not be as good as Mick. I would be prepared to say that Bellamy and Bennett would not have done any better in seasons 2013 and 2014 if they were the coach.

The task Potter was confronted with was just astronomical. A sad player roster to start, no money, a huge injury toll in both years, salary cap restrictions in both years, poor training equipment and poor trainers, two assistant coaches that are not worth a bean, a millstone around his neck called Roach and management that will not stand up for him etc. etc. - and to top it all off we pay him peanuts.

Mick pays us back with a clean out, enthusiasm, professionalism, encouragement for and positions for the younger players, doesn't cast dispersions on anyone else, takes the blame for anything that goes wrong etc. etc.

No wonder he doesn't fit in - he is almost the opposite to the board, management and the factions against him.

How about the new board back him, sort out the 2 Western Suburbs board members and the Chairman - doesn't matter about the Balmain board members (no votes), the CEO, give Potter the ability to pick his own assistants, get rid of the hangers on and let him coach the team he has built up from scratch so that we can all reap the rewards of his hard work in 2015 and 2016.

I have been following this mob for 64 years in one form or another and I am starting to get a little tired of them pushing the self destruct button - If anyone is against him during this time get rid of THEM - not him.

okay posted yesterday get it through your head
Eg: where is West Tigers football club
Not West
Not Balmain
West Tigers ????
Until they get through their head and merger as one you will always get problems
West and Balmain should be feeder clubs to West Tigers

In the ongoing saga that has been the Wests Tigers, one man has showed decorum, professionalism and loyalty and we should get id of him. Herein lies the problem

I need to ask, nicofu - why the aversion to putting an 's' on Wests? It's obviously deliberate cause your 's' seems to work perfectly well on other words.

Great stuff Russell; with that many years of support your views carry a lot of weight.

Him and Sheens.
We've been pretty lucky in that regard.
Even if Sheens did overstay by a year or two.

I'm only a 40 year fan so my view doesnt hold as much weight ! But I'm with Irvine …. a complete clean out is needed at the top.

There has to be accountability for the miserable performances and crowd figures of the past home games.

Unfortunately, the tigers are on the nose.

Unfortunately, too,i think potter will be a 2014 casualty.

I am in 100% agreement with Snake, maybe the wife should go.

Hey we had some good times together (I'm talking about my wife Snake, not yours) but I am just so fed up with her chide remarks about my childish behaviour every time the Wests Tigers lose. She has no idea what tribalism is all about.

I just can't take her watching our team getting flogged then getting up humming and making a cuppa with a smile on her face!

Anyway, that's why we need a good clean out. I don't care anymore who our coach or CEO is next year … Just stop the embarrassments.
