I think the issue is Sheens

We look to have gone backwards with a better squad, at the very least in the forwards.

Hitting the opposition 20 but there's no execution at the line to convert field position to points.

Not a great look from a coach who purported that attack would be main focus this year. Managed to lose games against one team that was decimated by injury through the game and had a player sent off and and the other that was just beaten by the team that everyone thought would take the spoon this year.

Titans and Knights beat us because they took limited opportunities on offer. We squander them. You wouldn't see Penrith, Melbourne, Easts or Souths squander that sort of position against the likes of the Knights and Titans. The year can get worse from here, we are yet to play those teams that usually figure in the pointy end.

No need to apologise, I was just clarifying your previous statement.
The squad is sub par. Sheens threw shade at the last coach, with a weaker team inflating the delusional opinion of players who are bog average to think that their lack of ability to win games would be resolved by playing attractive footy - and now - quite frankly he made his own bed he deserves to carry some heat.
If you can't get the good players you get the ones with the the right attitude. After the first two games Sheens is facing the same problems Maguire did - losing two games they were in a position to win and now the prospect of much tougher opposition with confidence down and a playing style that is not working.

I just posted in another thread about our attack and it's all on the coaches. They are not playing to Brooks and Doueihi's strengths at all.

The way I see it, we have Api controlling the middle on his own. No ball playing lock helping, and no halfback on the ball helping. We are playing Brooks wide expecting his pace will cause trouble on the edge. Problem is, the hooker isn't enough to condense the middle to give Luke space. We need to shift our thinking. Brooks' speed will be more beneficial through the middle. He needs to play close to the ruck unless we somehow unearth a smart lock. This will open up the edge for Doueihi and the fullback.

The idea behind the structure makes no sense. Long ball to the halves with just the hooker controlling the middle = shocking coaching.

If Twal, Tumeth and Seyfarth on the bench again I'm giving up. Forward packs would be kicking there lips before playing against them.

100% Twal I understand, but can't figure out why the other two are there. Maybe start twal and put stef on the bench, starting isn't doing him any good

I think you are right. The coaching is a massive concern but I think I get why they've come up with this plan. They have two running halves who play better on the edges.

That is Brooks and Doueihi's forte. They have Api who is a gun hooker who they think can control the middle and be good enough to compensate for the halves we have who are really just edge runners.

If anyone thinks Sheens is actually anything other than a Claytons coach is kidding themselves, Benji is the coach Sheens is taking the heat off him and mentoring him for a couple of years. Keep Benji out of the spotlights to go quietly about his business and learn without all the other pressures of media commitments ect.

So Wakeham is now a shrewd signing, it seems he and Kautoga blitzing it in KOE Cup.
Maybe they both come in, Doueihi to Centre to replace TT, Laurie to right wing, Brooks to left and Staines fb.
Couldn’t be any worse.
Dane Laurie is too small to compete with the modern wingers. He'd be a liability under the high ball when they attacked, he be a liability under the high ball when they kicked to his wing and with a 2nd rower and bigger winger as opponents would be sent into touch each time he got the ball. His defence on an edge would be excruciating - we'd have no defence on either edge with him and Noffa as our wingers. If he's a fullback then he should be a reserve for the 2nds.

People whinged about five hit ups and bombs then whinge when we try a new attacking style.

Yes we suck, but aren't people happy we no longer doing five hit up and bomb?

We obviously just need to execute.

Do people know what they want and what they are actually complaining about?

You could see last week a lot of the set plays went to Dom Youngs side which I think was a mistake, they also didn't change the tactic until 20 to go after not really troubling them all game.

Seems to also have brooks playing left and AD right edges rarely switching sides which I'm also not a fan of.
AD doesn't know how to ball play right to left. And teams are working him out on the right side. The plays he runs are good at getting players 4 on 4, 3 on 3 and so on, but he doesn't know how to turn a 2 on 2 into a 2 on 1. Personally I think if Papali'i is on his edge thing would work better.

its not a new attacking style, its hot potato, there is no structure. Avoiding 5 hit ups and a bomb doesnt mean having no set plays or structure.
