If Bellamy has taken the job in ‘03

Robbo will give Bellyache a nudge as greatest modern coach. Already won as many titles and coached a decade less than Bellyache. Got a back to back too.

Yes the worst thing ever is something that didn't even happen 17 years ago. 100% accurate. Just like all the times I didn't win lotto.
Let's trade in the only success we ever had for a time machine....

If it was possible I’d trade the 05 premiership to see where Bellamy could have taken us

Madge is the closest thing to the Bellamy style coach in the NRL.

He has the backing of the Front office and is working through the deadwood and revitalisation of this club.

Another year of pain in 2021 unfortunately, will see us free a significant percentage of funds to continue.

I disagree. There is a lot more to Bellamy than the outbursts you see in the coaching box.

He has been an innovative coach even if that includes stretching or breaking rules for an advantage. He has a smooth attacking system and is able to break down the opposition and come up with a game plan. Team he coaches have a great defensive structure and he has been able to improve previous defensive liabilities such as JAC, Brenko Lee, Korobite etc.

He is able to effectively utilise less talented players through focusing on their strengths and giving them roles that play to them.

It is down to Bellamy and not the club or structure as there has been a steady stream of assistants roll through the place.

I have yet to see Madge show anything close to that ability.

That's ridiculous, and you hammer people relentlessly on the forum for saying stupid things that have 0 evidence so I think you should try and find that Gnr and get him to respond to you.
Besides, if I could go back to 2003 Footy would be the last thing on my mind

Difference is, what I said is a hypothetical.

Is this like a Lament or something...

what if that penalty wasn't called on the hitman v roosters

What penalty? You talking about Dwyer’s hit? Cos he wasn’t penalised.

im sure it was a penalty right infront of the sticks, they kicked the two to level it up.

On JWH

No mate. It was the scrum from that knock on that we didn’t pick the ball up from, lost it, and Anasta kicked the field goal from the sideline to take it to extra time. The rest of that night I’m stil trying to forget. Wests Tigers version of the 89 gf. A game we weren’t meant to win.

yeah i was there, remember that. Just watched a clip of it, wish i hadnt

LOL

Depends how many sets of books we have.

It was only a matter of time

Well it is true.

So is the fact he’ll go down as the greatest coach of the modern era, regardless.

I'd have a leaning to Robinson myself, even though Bellamy leads NRL Premierships 4 to 3.
That could change this year.

Thing about Robbo; I won't detract from his overall coaching ability, which is self-evident, but he is coaching a roster bankrolled for decades by Uncle Nick.

Storm may well have cheated but at least they identified their talent before they got big, and then the cheating happened when they were trying to retain all their talent. Don't think Storm have ever signed a Tedesco-tier player from another club? Roosters signed two of them just two years ago.

Robinson is 7 finals appearances from 8 seasons, including 4 minor premierships. And yeah the 3 comps is impressive. Bellamy however hasn't missed the finals in 18 seasons; technically they came last in 2010 but that was only because their points were deducted, not because they didn't win enough games. Never missing finals in 18 seasons, no matter the cheating incident, that's a legacy I don't know if other coaches will be able to match.

Here is a different question

What if west tigers were never a thing, and Balmain and the pies were still in the nrl

And the Bears. I miss the Bears.

If Bellamy was here his narrative would be completely different - he'd be known as a hard case who trains his players too hard.

It must be end of season time. Geez it’s been 20 years already, time to move on.

I feel Des Hasler was on track to be the greatest coach with what he achieved at Bulldogs until his last year there.

I don't think Wayne Bennet has ever missed the finals either in 3 decades? And he has achieved success across 4 different clubs in different stints.

With Bellamy/Robinson, it's a bit of an asterisk as they have never coached another team.

Simply because of his longetivity, constant success and most premierships- I gotta go with Wayne for best coach.

We can think what we like about the Rorters, they haven't been caught like the Storm. There is nothing to suggest the Storm weren't dodgy in the other years as well. Robo didn't have Smith / Slater / Cronk / Inglis for years either.

Only my opinion - but I think Robo is a better coach and a better man.
