If Miller Gets First Crack At 7......

Pleased that Miller got some time in first grade earlier this year. Timing may be fortunate for him as he will get a full off season and the trial games to really get the feel of things. Good luck to him.

ID like to see him get first crack…
although with rumours about moltzen,Carney and lui
If moltzen stays and the other 2 go id like to see him as our halfback
if lui stays then i wouldnt mind seeing miller play fullback
if carney comes i wouldn't mind either of them playing 7 or fb

if none of the above come or stay then miller as 7

I'm happy to give him time and to be honest if he creates a few headlines ala some of the young halves (johnston, dce, hell even stig) I'll be over the moon.

Miller has been rated as the best u20s player by brett kimmorley who happens to be one of the smartest footy brains

Did he say he was the best player in the 20's overall. Or the tigers best player??

There is a few warriors players from the 20's that are are hard to go past Tuimuave, Hurrell, Omar S, Ben Henry, 2 backrowers for cowboys look ridiculous good Tomolu and Grevsmuhl. Dane Gagai and Stewart Mills look very good as well.

Tough to put Miller above all of them

"I really like the inclusion of Jacob Miller - he is the best Toyota Cup player I have seen"

I want Miller @ 7, if lui is unavailable.

The Thing I recall most about his few games in GF is that he was a strong defender and that's a great start as far as I'm concerned.

I thought Miller was reasonable without looking spectacular in his NRL appearances. I don't recall him doing too much wrong but he was hardly carving up. I suspect he will be much better once he gets a feel for the pace of first grade and gets some combinations going. Unless things go really bad, if the WT decide Miller is the halfback they need to give him enough time to do that. At least 5 rounds and probably 10.

I fully agree with this statement…I just hope the fans are patient with him as well

This is still junior development though, hes been developing for the last few seasons….bit tough to put a timeline of 5 or 10 weeks on him once he gets to first grade.
Even seasoned veterans are still developing, the games always evolving

5 or 10 weeks doesnt invoke patience to me

I'm not suggesting he be dumped after 5 or 10 weeks if he's not carving up, it will take at least that long to get used to the pace of the game and to be confident in the structure. I agree he won't be peaking after that short a time but I think it's getting to be enough time to judge whether he is up to NRL standard. Blake Lazarus I think demonstrated that you can get an appreciation for these things pretty early on.

So I think you're taking me out of context a bit. Personally I'd rather us stick to Miller for the season if we decide he's the man to be number seven but at the same time you can't ignore it if he's not working out. I think the bar would need to be set that expectations weren't unrealistic. I don't recall making the second comment you quote and link to me (I may well have I just don't remember) but I'm suggesting fans don't expect Benji Marshall or Cooper Cronk after 6 or 7 games.

Didnt take you out of context intetionally - a misunderstanding maybe

Quotes from the post after yours

Yeah that's what I meant. Well more so you misunderstood my context. I wasn't suggesting anything malicious on your part ink - just trying to explain the intent of my first post.

They have to stick with him through thick and thin in 2012

he is not a strong defender, prob his biggest weakness

I expect Miller's defence to be better than Lui's…I think he has a handy kicking game already...he just probably needs to learn to read the game and situations....

From some of the games I have seen Miller is an even worse defender than Lui. Miller also has no where near the same ball skills as Lui has. For mine if Moltzen is here next year we should play him at 7 as I think Miller is another year or two from being ready for NRL.
