Happy we won but I'm sitting in the club feeling like we lost

Heart attack city, but I was sitting in club feeling relieved. It was a good start to thye season and something to build on.

Yeah I'm better now… And after a good feed last night. Was annoyed at the capitulation in the 2nd half.... Just need to learn to do it for 80

We lost those games last yr, so it's already an improvement. It was a hot day and the Warriors have freakish attacking ability. I'm prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt in that one for no other reason then I wasn't expecting the win.

I think we're beautifully placed against Manly with Manly having clear teething problems and us with Brooks back. We've been lucky to draw a few teams early who have new combinations and need time to gel.

We did but he sure is not.

Taylor is so far from a genius it's not funny. If anything that game shows how bad he stuffed us last year.

JT did a great coaching job over the pre season and the win today showed just how much they needed to learn his structures last year..he always knew they could attack,he had to teach them defense…I don't think he stuffed them last year,he educated them...cheers Steve....

You may be right TT, but I think I' Il wait till our defence is actually put to the test by a decent team( which for most of yesterday's game ,( the Warriors weren't in that game ) before giving to much credit to last years " structure lessons"
In the only period that they looked like a team , we folded badly. ( again)
Still a win is a win, and it's a good start.

Yeah full credit to JT and allowing them to play a bit more what they see.
Warriors were full of errors in the 1st half and weren't allowed to get into the game.
The second half we didn't revert to a grinding game and forced a few to many passes and invited them in, instead of completing our sets and play the percentages. I said to my old Man " that Try before half-time we scored might get us the 2 points ".
Really we should of had another 3 tries.

I'm not one to hope we go crap just to see the back of Taylor and who ever does? Is not a real Wests Tigers Supporter IMO.
We may all agree and disagree on who we believe should be our Coach but no one should be hoping we lose to see our Coach purposely gone.
Full credit to JT yesterday but one game isn't going to define him.

Here's hoping to a good year.

Yeah agreed.

I seriously think we will beat Manly now.

Then there's the Titans. We could seriously start the yr 3 from 3

Lets not get too far ahead of ourselves fellas…A week is a long time in football..Manly will be stinging from the inept display to start the season...Wests Tigers need to back up the good performance from yesterday....A thing we have failed to do consistently for 3 seasons...

The test for Taylor this season is to get the gap between our best and worst performances to narrow...not an easy task with such a youthful side...if he can it will be the making of him and the Wests Tigers....

Poor Steve… It must Suck for him seeing JT have success... Hahaha

Sad

Thats a pretty childish response. I would say more sad then Steves opinion.

I have been a Taylor critic yet i want him to win as much as the next person.

Ill give credit where it is due. I dont want anyone to fail i want him to earn an extension with a strong season.

It is a long season but in the trial I saw and yesterday there are some pretty encouraging signs.

Taylor and the whole squad look more together this season. The football where playing I think will worry plenty of sides.

No doubt Geo.

We are a massive chance at Leichhardt and a few personell to return aswell.
We have to make our home games count and with Manly needing a bit more time to adjust to there new Coach…..there isn't a better time to play them, also they have some players on report.

It doesn't hurt to give credit - even a little.

Seriously JT could walk on water and you would have a reason why it wasn't good.

Something like "It's all been done before and better"

You may want him to succeed but I heave never seen anyone put the boot in more.

This post wasn't meant to turn into a jt vs non-jt thread. We have already all had our say on it.

It was a big job to get a very inexperienced team minus two playmakers over the line against a warriors team with expectations of a top 4 finish.

Let just give credit where it is due and hope we can back it up next week so that we have a little more hope that the management is moving our club in the right direction.

I think this game showed a little bit of the challenge in front of Taylor. Trying to get the team to play with control (first half) vs the off the cuff style, trying to score on every play that crept in the second half. We need some sort of structure to fall back into when things are going against us and we need to grind out some sets.

Completely untrue. I've given him credit for a couple of things:-

1\. I think he typically picks the right team.
2\. He has gone away from not playing offence at all and just stating defence is all that matters.

I'd be happier if Manly had of won this weekend
They won't be a picnic for us.

Credit where credit is due, the idea of playing an extra forward with Moses controlling the game was very smart and it will be used by more coaches when their hooker goes down injured mid-game.

Yep. It will be tough. The expectations for Manly will be high.

Well done Tigers, well deserved. A fair bit of anger over here over the Warriors display. You can't give a team a 24 point start.

What motivates these guys is beyond me.

That's also what we thought when Warriors were soundly beaten in a trial the week before they played us.

That is true, Teddy said on FOX after the game that " Taylor gave Mitch a chance to play his natural game, unlike last year when we were frustrated by the style of play we were playing."
Straight from the horses mouth, JT learnt a hard lesson last year, hope he keeps it going.
