If we lose this week should we look towards 2012?

If we lose to last placed Canberra this week do we start semi planning for 2012?

Sorry I am not trying to be negative but looking at short term pain for long term gain. Which means giving State Cup and Under 20's a chance to prove themselves in the NRL.

I appreciate we have been hammered by injuries this year but we need players who want to play NRL week in week out and show total heart and committment.

I like Moltzen who has so much talent but I rather pick a player like Allan Schirnack who puts in 100% when he is given a chance to play NRL. I am sure we have other players in lower grades who would jump at the chance to play NRL and score a full time contract.

Seeing the success of Ben Barba and Junior Hoppa should we start to blood Mullaney at full-back now. Unfortunately McKinnon is not reliable with his hamstring, Moltzen at full back is rubbish and Brown might not be resigned for next year. I appreciate Mullaney has issues with his defence but so does Moltzen and at least Mullaney understands the role of full back and is great at support play.

Utai might not be around next year and Beau Ryan is not NRL standard. Should we promote Tagive or another State Cup player to get them NRL experience.

In the Centres give Josh Davis or Matt Ryan a go and advise them they are playing for an NRL contact for next year. Ayshford would be a perfect utility bench player as he can play in the backs and forwards. I don't want him to play just 10 minutes each week off the bench. Ayshford is a solid player but I think we need another gun centre like Lawrence.

Let's rest Ellis until he is 100% and get Junior Moors to start and justify why he should be resigned for next year. Only use him in the second row and a damaging ball runner. It might be his last shot at an NRL contract.

Allow Farah to have surgery now and let Fulton play hooker or promote a State Cup hooker. Farah playing injured is not helping the team and not helping him win back his State of Origin spot back.

I am not writing off 2011 but can not see the point playing key players like Ellis and Farah injured when we have fit players busting to play NRL in State Cup.

Also can't understand Sheen's picking players out of position and not using the bench properly. Should always have 4 forwards on the bench. Fulton and Dwyer could play in the backline if injuries occur during a game. I can't help think that not rotating the forwards each week during a long tough season has something to do with the amount of injuries we have experienced. All forwards except for Farah should have a stint on the bench for a breather.

We have an excellent squad when fully fit and playing in our correct positions and playing form players.

If coached correctly and luck with injuries we have enough talent to win the comp. Hate to see Farah, Marshall etc retire without another premiership ring given the talent we have.

Seeing the development and promotion of Woods, Fifita, Dwyer has been great. I am sure we have more talent in State Cup and Under 20's that could play full back, winger and centre better than the current players playing these positions. Let's give these guys a chance.

Maybe it's time to clean out some of the roster next year to buy Adam Blair (we need his aggression) and a goal kicking winger for 2012.

Sheens should not be resigned if we miss the top 8 this year.

If we don't resign Mitch Brown then McDonnell and Sheens have rocks in there heads

That should be addressed immediately. We can't let talented blokes like Brown leave. We need to sign him now before someone does.

Certainly not, I think you are dramatically overreacting to only a few losses. We have currently won 3 from 7 games and are sitting in eighth position meaning that even with a loss next week we are only one win outside the top 8\. Are you really prepared to tell me that your considering giving up on this season only two points outside the top eight in round 8 with the talent we currently have in our roster? We still have rep players to come back into our team in coming weeks aswell as the single best player in the NRL in great form (excluding this week of coarse). I honestly believe that we could loose the next 3 straight matches and still make the finals comfortably. And I certainly wouldn't write us off going up against a team like Brisbane or the Bulldogs if we only just scrape into the finals.
One thing that I do agree with you about is giving Jake Mullaney a go at fullback while McKinnon is out injured. We have really struggled to fill the void at fullback since loosing Hodgson a few years back and it would be great to finally have a speedy fullback who understands the position and could even kick goals. Many will say that theres problem with his defence as well as lacking size however you only have to look at Nathan Gardner who had the same question marks over him when coming into first grade and has proved to be very successful and has just about turned their side around. I would love to see Mullaney given a go!

I sincerely hope not. Unfortunetly luck has not been on our side season.Injuries have been shocking. But look at this stage I think it is a little to early to close the curtain on season 2011\. I'm hoping that after we recover from injuries and have a full strength 17 on the field, we will be the brilliant team, we know we can be.

We only had 1 more win this time last year…...by round 8, we were 4 wins with 4 losses, considering where we finished last year, it's a tad early to be saying we should be looking towards next year if we lose this weekend.

Planning for next year? Last time I checked this week was round 8 out 26\. Everett, is your idea of keeping a season open by having a 50% win record by round 7? Makes me laugh…

don't give up on wests-tigers.

if we lose this week, then concentrate on putting in an excellent performance against the rabbitohs after the bye. and so on utnil end of the season.

i will only accept they cannot make top 8, when its round 26, 5 seconds to go in the game, and they need to score more than 9 points to win the game, which will get them into the top 8.

this are still alot of ups/downs yet to happen in this season for all teams.

Yeah i think we should.. Hell why not forfeit the rest of the season.. why do we need to play another 20 games for the remainder of the season.. While we are at it, lets use the NYC team to give them confidence…

The Tigers are waiting for Sheens to agree to terms submitted, not the other way around….Sheens may well have had enough with the Tigers and is wanting to move on...like Penrith(?)>>>!

Nah 3 is a bit too far, since we are versing teams in the bottom 8 the next 3 weeks actually.

But, a couple of more losses wouldn't hurt that much, however I would start panicking after 3 straight weeks of losing, coz then it would make it 5 as Tigers lost their last 2 matches as well.

well June/July isnt April/May

June/July ATLEAST Troy.

Anyways if we were 0/7 or 0/8 in April/May, what would be our chances of making the finals?

Not having a go at anyone, but re original post, its kinda premature to say we should look towards 2012 already, but geeze 3/4 more losses in a row and we would be hitting hard on the panic buttons.

Good to see the panic merchants are out. All the Sheens haters must be rubbing their hands in glee :unamused:

We are currently 8th and we have been really poor. There is plenty of time left to turn ourselves around.

Yes plenty of time to get players back and start to come good at the right time of the year.

We have had a really soft draw to start the season and have come up with 3 from seven. All the teams we have played except the dogs and Brisbane have had a ordinary season to date. Our injury crisis has not helped but really the last two weeks we had enough quality on deck to win but played well below par.

To think things will turn around in a few weeks is very optimistic, their has been no signs except maybe the Souths game that better things are around the corner. Theirs no enthusiasm in our play and theirs the attitude Benji will win it for us.

Things could turn around but I really cant see it happening
