Is Being a Wests Tigers Supporter the Ultimate Futility?

I really can't see this happening and I really fail to see how they are accountable for a loss like we just had. I blame the coaching staff and the players.
Look how many coaches and players they’ve cycled through during their tenure at the club.

Yet they (who made the decisions to hire and fire said coaches / staff) remain in their roles.

Our issues are wayyyyyyy beyond coaches and players.

I've been a Wests Tigers supporter for a long time and, sorry, Magpies fans, a Balmain Tigers supporter for a long time before that. Anyway, I have to ask the question, is being a Wests Tigers fan a futile exercise? Seriously, do any of you think the Tigers will ever reverse the trend, become successful, earn some respect or, God forbid, win another premiership? For the first time I cannot see any light at the end of the tunnel and I'm normally a beacon of optimism! More than ever I am convinced that the success of a club starts at the top and clearly our administration are a shambles. There are so many reasons why the club will continue to fail.

1. The incompetence and lack of professionalism of our administrators, led by Hagipantelis and Pascoe.
2. The obvious disconnect between the coaching staff and administrators.
3. A deeply rooted culture of not taking responsibility.
4. Ineffective coaching led by a stubborn, out of touch head coach and rookie assistant.
5. Eroding team harmony/ belief (most likely caused by all of the above)
6. Losing attitude that permeates whole club
7. Lack of depth
8. Inability to attract/ secure quality players or keep talented juniors
8. Multiple home grounds
9. Ineffective policing of salary cap and TPAs that prop up the strong clubs while the NRL turns a blind eye.
10. Inconsistent and often questionable officiating.

I've probably forgotten a few contributing factors and, sorry for stating the obvious, but, really, can any of you see a way out? The clear first step is to sack most of the board, together with the two clowns running our basket case of a club but apparently this is not possible as they all back each other up. 74 nil - it says it all. The place is a disaster.
Great Post SD

This is a 23 year issue, I cringe when I hear former players speak about the culture of the early days. We got lucky in 2005.

This is why Good Players clock off of fail to improve (Brooksy etc)

All this adds up to No New Wests Tigers Fans.

And the competition is not set up to provide all teams an equal shot to take their turn at lifting the trophy. The NFL is different because of the draft. I'm not recommending an NRL draft necessarily but do believe something needs to be done to give the cellar dwellers a greater chance to compete. Of course, getting our management in order is one positive step but the NRL should make it a priority to create a more even playing field by policing the cap/ TPAs.
I agree the Draft system is not only good for the game its exciting
So what someone won a case under common law years ago against it and if another case goes the other way a new precedent is created and common law adjusts
Yes the Unpoliced TPA issues make a mockery of the cap

I think that is the easy blame. Cleary has done well outside of the Tigers. Sheens was a gun coach. I'm not sure if he is now. We couldn't sign Ciraldo who doesn't seem that good anyway.

I worked in IT and it was always best to find the root cause of the issue. I'm not sure if that is possible in this case.

Is it the dodgy comp ? Is it continual poor decisions but you can't blame those decisions on the board and CEO can you ? Surely they aren't the ones who developed this squad and tanked last year. That is all on Sheens and his team. I'm not stating sack them all as well.

I don't have the answers but I don't see any answers coming from anyone.

I think the best option is it's out of our control and don't pay much attention. I've given up on this year.

The roster is everything first and foremost.
Too many players content to be FG footy players to earn a living win lose or draw.
Too many coaches wearing the blame for players who really don't care which jersey they wear but just want the lifestyle.
Effort players with a hate losing mentality is what a club needs to succeed. Every good team has them and naturally they are going to be attracted to players and clubs that share the same desire.
Stuffed if I know how you assemble a roster of players at a club with an ingrained loser mentality.

The league gives clubs more than the entire salary cap each year as a grant. We are also backed by a large leagues club conglomerate. Despite all this we can’t attract a single decent halfback and we ask for volunteers to do match days. Any talk Pascoe is a financial genius is rubbish. We’d be making much more money in sponsorships and other revenue streams if we weren’t such a poorly run organisation.
I know Wests Ashfield gave the club $1m in the previous financial year so the self sufficient line is bullshit.

I don’t think that’s what’s happening here.
You don’t get to NRL level with a loser mentality.
Isn’t it more likely that the club is churning out losers?
We complain about the players going missing in the opponents 20. But isn’t that what Pascoe does, when we have 5 straight losses to start the season he goes off grid to Kakadu?
We have lost far too many good players, who have refused to be part of a losing culture, for it to be coincidence.
I’ve never seen such a high number of sackings in an organisation in all my life.

As a Life long supporter of the Wests Magpies and Wests Tigers it is difficult but to add to this I also support West Harbour Rugby - 94 years since their last Grand Final win - now that is very very difficult. Must have something to do with Concord , must be in the soil ......
Lol

Like it or not wests tigers make up a part of each of us.

Yeah, the game day results, suck more than they should over the last few years.

Simply, I can't see myself following any other team than wests tigers, even though they do my head in at times.

Very hard to turn a organisation around once the rot sets in and our club the rot set in a long time ago.

You have to start at the top and start from scratch, board and CEO flicked, then get the best in the land to replace them. Give them a total free rein to do what’s needed. The odds would still be long as once your name is mud it’s very hard to change

My sports houses in both primary and high school were the loser houses. Then I became a Norths supporter. After they were kicked out, I supported the Tigers because I'd moved to the inner west. This year feels like business as usual.

Will rookie coach, Benji, who spent maybe a third of his career running around like a headless chook, kicking dead, shanking into touch on the full, and throwing balls to nobody lead the Tigers to the promised land?

It has a SNAFU feel to me. I wanted Flanno. Looks like BAU to me. The ray of hope comes from Api and Klem, some good young players coming through, and the fact that Benji played under Bennett for a while. He at least knows something about what top shelf coaching looks like.
