Is it time for a rethink?

No need for a rethink. If we copy how the successful teams play but do it with inferior players as a fan we know not to get excited. We may beat them early in the season but in the second half of the year when the cream rises to the top we will finish second. It's good to know not to get to uptight about playing semi final football because we are copying everyone else

The first thing we shoukd change is to kicj the ball to the corners and not donthise 50m bombs that do nothing except turn the ball over. Id rather risk a 7 tackle set than those waste of tactics.

Until we get a dominant half who can do that sort of kicking we will always struggle.

2005 our spine was Prince & Benji (in his prime), Hodgson at fullback and Farah at dummy half - we have absolutely nothing like that sort of combo in our ranks now. It was a once in a lifetime thing.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Looking back at the 2005 spine from what we know now it was definitely amazing. But back then you wouldn't have said that. Prince was never a great standout at Nth Qld, in 3 years at the Broncos he only played 28 games and was let go because of constant injuries. Marshall although debuting in 2003 only played a total of 11 games in 2003 and 2004 and was coming in to 2005 with 2 shoulder reconstructions. Farah only played 7 games leading in to 2005 and was coming off a knee reconstruction. He wasn't even in the starting side at the start of 2005. Hodgson was the only one of the spine that you would say you would of been expecting big things having played SOO.

So you never know.

I thought all we needed was a mission statement to be winners

The mission statement didn’t gain much traction did it 😂

Surprised it wasn't mentioned during the award ceremony after the game last night's night.

One thing for certain is the new rules have put a gap between the good teams and the rest of the comp. You can’t grind out wins anymore you need to have speed and skill across the field.

Defence is still the most important thing in the league. The top 7 teams in the ladder are also the top 7 best defensive teams, Penrith the best, Melbourne second best.

It’s also majorly important to have halves who can hold possession and manage games. We seriously lacked that this year and if we had a half like that we would’ve been much better

We need a moneyball style approach to shake things up....we try to compete with the roosters like the roosters off the field they will continue to beat us on the field. 100% we need our own unique approach to not only what we have, but what we can get and how they all play.

much easier said than done

We just need a mission. I would settle for one like the Richmond Tigers’

Prehaps a off season visit to Richmond tigers can be arranged by madge for the squad

Would do them good imo
