Is it Worth Discussing the Central Coast Tigers?

The pokies model of funding has been the leading indicator generally of successful clubs but not ours. It is dying to an extent but it is a source of funding that many clubs wish they had more of and will not give up easily.

Wests Ashfield own like 90 percent of the club right? They can do what they want…I don’t believe that will include moving the club out of Sydney…

So how would the move happen? The NRL would have to make them sell the team? can they do this?

I think the best option is to increase their commitment to South West Sydney… that area is going to be massive when the new airport opens up…

Moving will not solve the problem. I love the joint but face facts the board and its mates have been the problem before the merge now that we have joined the joint has not got any better and the club is a media joke day in and day out. Until the club is brought by someone with power and influence nothing will change, we all hope it would but it will not. Pascoe and Lee H are only the small part of the problem, but there the face to the mess that needs to change firstly,then the coaching staff, then the biggest problem can be tackled and that is the board who runs the joint venture.

Just make it the Central Coast Bears and let them have a shot. At least they would have one name/one ground. If Redcliffe can work then surely CC would be worth a shot.
We have failed continuously for more than a decade and nothing I can see moving forward is going to change that .
Let’s donate the CoE to Australian soccer, as per Arnold’s request for a specialist facility. I reckon they would make better use of it.

Long time listener, first time caller. I’ve supported the Tigers since 1982. Went to my first game at Leichhardt in ‘83. I have pretended that my club didn’t die in ‘99 but it did. This new ‘club’ isn’t a club. It’s some strange chimera thrown together to try and appease fans and make them believe that there is still a team for them in the top flight. When things get hard as a club you have to rely on your character and identity to get through. This club has no identity and won’t do until it moves on from this ridiculous arranged marriage. Balmain is dead. The Magoies are dead. Move the team to Perth. Call it the Pirates for all I care. But I’ve finally realised that the club I loved doesn’t exist anymore. It only took 23 years.

Excuse me if this notion is a little naive but is it time that the Tigers investigated a relocation to the Central Coast? When I mention this, I am suggesting it as a vehicle for a new start in every possible way;

  • New board members
  • New administration team
  • New brand
  • New coach
  • New playing roster

I am aware that there are obstacles;

1. NRL prefers other locations for a new franchise, ie. Perth
2. There have been challenges in the past with sponsorship/ financial support on the Coast
3. The Northern Eagles fiasco has left a sour taste in the mouths of the NRL
4. Gaining mutual support from the Wests and Balmain factions could be problematical
5. Wasting of the Centre of Excellence initiative

And, finally, these are what I see as the positives of such a move;

***It provides a means for the current organisation to make a fresh start, reinvent itself and rid itself of the unprofessional/ basket case perception that hinders any chance of it making progress
*** Being a traditional Rugby League neighbourhood and nursery, there is bound to be huge fan support
*** It provides a commutable distance for its diehard Sydney fans
*** The team could have one, high quality home ground
*** It has a large, successful and financially solvent Leagues Club right next door to the ground.
*** Geographically, it plugs the gap between Sydney and Newcastle
***It might solve the issue of bickering between the Wests and Balmain factions

As I mentioned before, the League should be and, probably is, looking closely at the Tigers' plight at the moment (and not favourably I would guess). Would it help the club's cause if they were proactive and stepped up with such a proposal? I really think it's time to start thinking outside the box because the situation seems to be at breaking point.

By the way, I live on the Central Coast but it's not why I'm mooting this!

p.s. Does anyone know how to make the heading bold?
😂 Merge 2 clubs that still don't get along after 23years...then send them up the central Coast..the travelling circus

From the little I know they stuffed this up once already, moving to cambo?

I would love if an old Wests' fan could explain the history there
