Is Tedesco The Best Fullback In The Last Decade

Teddy doesn't have a passing game ? Ridiculous statement . Queenslanders should abstain from this thread . Clearly they cannot judge free from their ingrained bias.

Didnt say he hasnt got one, i said its not his strong point.
Compare it to Slater or Locky who were ball playing fullbacks. They would keep the defence constantly confused as they took the ball to the line and put players through gaps with long and shortballs, or put in attacking kicks, or ran it themselves.

Teddys strength lies in his ball running. Even when he decides to shift the ball he'll generally try and beat his man first then offload rather than outsmart him through positioning. Obviously he can ballplay he has proven that on occasion but its not his go to primary playing style.

This isnt necessarily a criticism as he is a devastatingly effective runner but i hope he works on his ball playing a bit more to complete his journey towards being the game's most dynamic and thus premier fullback.

The reason why I created this thread is because from all the time that I have followed Rugby League, the past 5 years, I had only grew up with Tedesco. I thought he was by far the best fullback in the league (which he is right now). I just forgot about the 5 years before him where the likes of Slater etc. were playing. I have only just lived beyond a decade.

But in 10 years time I am sure we will say. Tedesco has been the best.

I hope you're right. Certainly the most exciting player for the Tigers in the past couple of years!!

Not yet. He is unbelievable playing in a team that is constantly dominated tho.
If he plays out his career in a stable competitive team he will become one of the greatest ever without a doubt.
That will be the difference between him being the best FB ever or just a good FB that fades away. I really really really hope the tigers can be that team for him.

Over the past 2 years Teddy was our 2nd highest assist leader. He has a good passing game, but then he's not exactly throwing 30m cut out balls. He's not Johns but his quick hands and ability to send a flat faceball straight to his winger is exceptionally good.

Certainly not as good as his running game though. But then he has just about the best running game in the comp! Too high a bar for him to reach in other areas of his game.

yeah i want to see if he can try to expand his game, more playmaking, more of those grubber kicks

His game doesn't really lend itself to grubbers because he tends to get the ball at pace (which is fine because it suits his running game which is his most dangerous aspect).

That's the role of our halves.

Best current fullback without question.

Trbojevic is another star in the making.

A guy at work is a Tigers fan and also reckons Trbojevic is special. It'll be interesting if Tedesco really comes on especially compare to players like Trbojevic. I mean he has been great for us but he didn't kill it in origin. Will he turn into a Slater like player ? Hayne for instance killed it in origin. Slater, Inglis, Stewart etc have killed it for years.

Tedesco has played 1 origin game, I repeat, 1 game and he was one of our best. Have a lie down Steve, you're struggling.

WOW… I thought it was a pretty good debut.

No Tedesco and Qld win 3-0.

Hope they sack him for next year!!!

Teddy was solid and was instrumental in our winning try but he did not dominate but as far as your first game goes at SOO level you would have to be very happy at what he produced.

As far as best no1 in the past decade, maybe for the Tigers, but still a long way off a player like Slater, but he has the ability to get there

I think you guys are looking at Teddy's game with Tigers glasses on. He played well but he definitely didn't dominate. He was more solid than anything else.

How good has Hayne been at that level for instance. Can Teddy get to that level ? I don't know. I suppose time will tell.

 definitely the Off Season.

Going off way to early , there is still quite a few more years to complete the Decade.

No doubt that he will be in the mix before we see this Decade through .

I will say to date…. Greg Inglis and Jarryd Hayne for mine .

Billy Slater was the most dominant and at his best last Decade ( 2000 - 09 ) , but then again it's easy to do well with the calibre of players he had around him especially in the key areas. Grub of the highest order though .

But for me Brett Hodgson was our best last Decade and Sheenius made the most Pathetic call of his Coaching Career by not renewing his Contract and allow him to go to England and continue to play his best footy.
Hodgson had it all Courage , elusiveness , great anticipation , but most of all he was all heart....absolute LEGEND!!!!! :master: :master:

Hodgo was a gun wasn't he. Tedesco is a better player though but Hodgo was so good for a long time.

We had the spine from hell in 05\. Robbie the legend at hooker and he also had an extra yard or two of pace, Prince firing at 7, Benji firing at 6 and Hodgo doing everything right at the back.

I wonder if we would have won another premiership with those 4 there. We even did it with a lot of flaws in the 05 team.
