I thought we did OK against one of the expected grand finalists. Yes, we were at stages dominated and they did drop lots of ball but Utoikamanu was a standout again, Madden did better than expected, Simpkin is coming along, Liddle made a great break that led to a try, Maumalo was solid, Twal stolid as usual, even Nofo actually made some tackles.
A couple of additions and we could start to climb the slippery slope of NRL success.

Madge recruited some hardened NRL players,Tamou,JTJ,BJ and made Mbye a utility to cover many positions we could not afford to fulfil...smart business...
Our young guys are learning NRL and when the players of substantial quality come along Im willing to bet Madge/Hartigan will pounce....
we are setting a new and invigourated platform for the future ...patience is needed and we will have success...

If I had a dollar for every time someone suggested a game was a turning point, I’d be rich. Don’t fool yourselves. And I say that as pretty much the only person in the predication thread that thought we would compete. That’s who this club is. They always come out and a have a go in games they look like getting blown out. Then we all feel good and proud till they come out the next week and roll over against a weak team. 2022 is going to be a long long year, with the odd bright spot that gives us some hope. I'm on board with the developing the youth stuff but we've got money to spend and positions that need strengthening.

Pascoes happy to wait around until something presents its self. We need to be more aggressive.... strike first, strike hard.

Hynes is a perfect player and could've played centre for us.
McIness, perfect 13 for us.
Dale, hard nosed forward to mentor our young guns.

We didn't didn't try and make it happen.

Now we've got average centres for 2022
No lock and we're short some talent for our pack.

That being said, a lot can happen over the next few months.

100% we need to build for now. If this club doesn’t progress for 2-3 years, all these youth players we’ve heavily invested in will be out the door and then we’re back to square one. It’s too easy and tbh ignorant to say we just need to plan for 3-4 years

Maumalo has been a real pro and a great pick up. Noffa took 2 steps forward today in defense, but 2 steps back with sloppy attack. Needs a good preseason of could be dropped again.

I'm concerned with LL, really plataued. Can't recall his last barn storming run and lateral defense is really bad. Shouldn't be playing 80.

Our spine is still confusing and amongst worst in the comp. Douhi is a central and will come back from 2nd acl even slower. Has footy smarts.
Laurie had a great first year and is safe. Not sure he is a fullback though. Not blinding fast, strong or elusive. Maybe a 5\8?
Brooks needs a change of scenery, so maybe hastings and Laurie in halves and find a fullback? No idea who.

I'm a fan of Brooks. Strong defense, sharp runner, loyal and durable. He is a whipping boy on here and feel he has been let down a little by the club. Constant coach and structure changes.

I just feel at this stage, it might be best for both parties for a change. I think he could thrive in a better team. I often look at the Canberra halves and think imagine how good Brooks would be in that side? Strong pack, good hooker and strike back rowers and centre's.
