Is this the first time we have had an ANZAC themed Jersey?

Design looks very good, fits in great with all three of our colours - but I have a philosophical objection to sport exploiting ANZAC Day for its own gain, today and this weekend in the NRL being the perfect example. That's not to say what they have done isn't respectful, but in reality, this jersey hasn't been made out of respect to people who served our country, it has been made for the club to make money. Plain and simple - if that wasn't the case, they'd have donated every cent from selling the jerseys (minus cost of making them) to Legacy and/or local RSLs. The fact that we can't have ONE day a year that doesn't have any sport, a day that is simply one of commemoration, reflection and respect says a lot about what sport has become in Australia.

Again I stress this is not saying the design, or the pre-game stuff this week is disrespectful, I just hate how commercialised the whole thing has become.

I'm sure at heart they (NRL) have the right idea and mean no harm, but it has become very commercialized and is becoming a bit off putting. I love the jersey but don't know if I'd get one because of this.
