Issac Gordon admits pushing ex-girlfriend

CRONULLA Sharks back Isaac Gordon has admitted to pushing his heavily-pregnant girlfriend against a wall in an ugly domestic violence incident last year.
Gordon, 25, this morning pleaded guilty in Sutherland Court to attacking his former partner, Karen Lee Davidson, 31, after an all night bender with his teammates on September 28.

The footballer returned to the couple's Sylvania home at about 7 the following morning and the pair argued about his late night antics, according to court documents.

Gordon verbally abused Ms Davidson, who was seven months pregnant at the time, telling her; "Hit me, hit me, I’ll hit you back. It’s self defence, I’ll kill you f***ing [This word has been automatically removed]."

He then grabbed the woman by the chin and pushed her against the wall, wrestling with her as she tried to take his keys, before grabbing them and driving away from the house.

Gordon’s barrister James Barnett said the footballer had been drunk at the time of the incident, which was out of character for him.

"This came as quite a surprise, which is why the (Sharks) supports him," he said.

Magistrate Sharon Holdsworth said Gordon had committed a "nasty assault", aggravated by Ms Davidson being pregnant.

She handed him an 18 month, good behaviour bond for the common assault, but a more serious assault charge was dropped.

Doesnt sound out of character to me if his girlfriend felt the need to confront him about his late night antics. Im sure if it was a one off she wouldn't of had such an issue with him being out late for once.

At least she is now his 'Ex girlfriend' not one that is all willing to be all supportive towards him throughout this case despite what he has done.

Why don't scum like this get locked up? How any man can lay their hands on a woman in that manner i just can't understand, let alone your pregnant partner.
Being drunk is no excuse what so ever, been drunk plenty of times and never really though about physically hurting any of my loved ones or unborn child.
The NRL need to weed out these lowlifes starting with Lui, and the law needs to punish them more harshly as well, good behaviour bond what a joke.

Is it just me noticing the common theme amongst indigenous rugby league players and partner assaults. Its becoming a rather bad trend. Inglis, Bird, Laurie, Lui x2 now Gordon.

I hope this comment doesn't come across as racist at all. I have had this discussion many times with lots of people.

The indigenous people as a whole seem to have an intolerance to alcohol ( in general ) There are so many young indiginous guys who might be superstars if not for the grog. I grew up on the south coast where a high population of indigenous live and these guys were amazing with their hands and feet. Playing them in touch footy made us look like we were standing still.

Sadly, in too many cases the grog becomes a 'demon'

Thinking about this, I wonder if it's a common them to the indigenous from other countries ( NZ USA Canada comes to mind )
