It has to end...

A half that can't kick. That'll do me.
Yep. It's the only skill a halfback SHOULD have. They can be poor defensively and be small and weak, but if your half gets you around the field with their boot and their pass, then you're fine.

Brooks has been a poor kicker his entire career. He has been poor with ball in hand his entire career.

We have been calling for his sacking since 2016.

He should be gone in 2024, and I wouldnt be surprised if Doueihi is let go too before 2024. So i'm not too concerned cause i genuinely think that's our main glaring issue. With competent halves, we score when we have field position (which we've had all 4 games) and we have to do less defense, and our team morale increases during games as opposed descreasing during games every time Doueihi, Laurie or Brooks gift the other team possession.

What is most worrying about the 4 losses is the sense that our coaching staff seem to have no idea what to do next to change these results. Hope we can jag a win soon but given the teams we are facing between now and the bye (Broncos and Eels) that ain't gonna happen short of some kind of football miracle occurring.

Both tries today from sets Brooks did not touch it...

In sets he is involved, he has had over 100 sets in opp 20 this season for zero try assists / not set up a single try / shocking kicking.

His one assist a long range one.

This is an NFL team where a QB can't play...where one man is ruining everyone else's work.

We are actually defending well...our line D much improved...pack marching downfield...forwards 100 plus regularly.

And it is all being undone. Soft hands early on overlap we score...bad kick, they score...these are HUGE momentum swings that would slaughter any team.

For everyone's sake, it has to end.
Our D was very good and we were better through the middle and supporting Api this week. All blown opportunities were on Brooks. Wake up Boardroom!

The scary thing is Tim will need to step back and say "okay, I got that wrong...Luke needs to go"...

He will need to be like Bennet with Milford and make the change for everyone's sake.

Tim is incredibly stubborn though....
Winning coaches make those calls. We’ve either never been brave enough or someone higher has more say.

With an average halfback we score that first try instead of throw it to Kepaoa.
He’s making basic errors. I’d like to see our completion rate if you remove Brooks errors.
I’m not even saying he can’t be a good player elsewhere. He could be, but his time here is over. Maybe drop him for a few games and have him understand that he can’t play like rubbish each week and get away with it. It’s the one thing no coach has done and should have.

Brooks - everything said is sadly true. He shows effort but has no confidence.
Doueihi - has not recovered from injury from last year, and his efforts trying to take control are sadly lacking.
Yep. Brooks has had low confidence for yonks.

Brodie Croft was in a similar situation. He went to Super League and now he's won awards and picked up a big contract. Brooks would probably do well over there. He should transfer to the Rhinos ASAP for everyone's sake.

Doueihi needs time off to fix his body, and do some speed training too. ATM he's not fast enough to play in the backs and not a good enough defender to be a forward.

Yes, Croft looks good there. As did Hastings & a lot of other Bog average NRL halfbacks. Recruiting based on superleague form is a risky business.

He kicks under pressure in a panic. I wonder what he would be like with a little more composure in some set plays.
Hastings and to a lesser extent Madden were the only players we had capable of having this composure.

Brooks, Doeuihi, and Laurie all panic under pressure. It remains to be seen with Wakeham but he seems to have a little more composure than the others.
