It is time for SHEENS to go.

Part of me is in 2 ways about this because I can see benji ending up at the panthers in the future if he goes there, its stupid wanting a coach to stay because of one player

I have been following the tigers all my life and in my opinion Tims Sheens should become the joe paterno of Rugby League but with the tigers. This man gave us a premiership and has also made 1st graders out of 95% of our players. If Sheens goes this team will break apart. These guys play for the man, and we supporters need to realise when we critisise the coach we also critisize the players. Look at benji, Robbie, Chris H, Keith, Liam, Bryce, Chris L, Andrew, Dwyer, Woods etc etc etc If we don't back our coach these players who he developed will go elsewhere as will our seniors. 2 Million over 5years is peanuts give him 4 million for 8 years to see out the players he developed careers. This is a wise investment because good players will want to come here and play for the tigers and we will develop a winning culture. It is Imperative to keep Tim Sheens at the wests tigers

Well said Kronic I agree…. Go the Tigers...

Why not give him a Rolls Royce in Tigers colours and put him on a pension for life after he leaves as well?
What you are all forgetting is it is HIS DECISION to stay or go.
The Tigers haven't given him the boot - if he wants the extra dough he will go.
If he loves the club more than the money he will stay.
It won't be easy - you are talking about $300,000 extra a year over 4 years
And Benji won't be going anywhere - he signed a 5 year deal and has said he'll stay no matter what.

You're assuming Sheens will be a success at Penrith - might be sacked in 2 years like Elliot.

WESTS Tigers superstar Benji Marshall is tipping Tim Sheens to stay a Tiger – with the 60-year-old coaching veteran expected to make a decision on his future today.

Sheens has been offered $2.5 million over four years to switch to Penrith but Marshall last night said he was confident the four-time premiership-winning coach won't be going anywhere.

"Tim gives us the respect when we go through our contract negotiations that he doesn't ask many questions. We have to give him that respect back," Marshall told The Footy Show last night. "Personally I think he will stay."

The Tigers are hoping Sheens' loyalty to his players will be enough to see him turn his back on Penrith's money.

Marshall is not the only Tiger confident the coach won't leave.

Chief executive Stephen Humphreys was refusing to speculate on the terms of the final offer made to the off-contract coach but indicated the club hoped Sheens' friendships with players would be significant in his final decision.

It's been well documented Sheens has a particularly close relationship with Marshall, who has played his entire career under Sheens at the Tigers.

Marshall no longer has a get-out clause in his contract that would allow him to leave the club if Sheens was to move on.

"I'm on contract for five years," Marshall added last night. "I'm going nowhere."

But Brad Fittler said his gut feeling was that Sheens was heading back to Penrith.

"I've got a feeling he will go," Fittler told The Footy Show.

Sheens will go into camp with the Australian Test team on Sunday night following the Tigers' match against Canberra.

The coach and club agree the announcement should come before he heads off with the Kangaroos.

"I won't be drawn on any of the details of our offer," Humphreys said.

"Tim has invested a lot of himself in our club and our playing group and he now has an important decision to make on where he wants to be and who he wants to coach over the next period of his career.

"We expect him to make that decision in the next day or so."

Sheens was scheduled to front a media conference yesterday morning but instead sent his assistant Peter Gentle to front the media.

Skipper Robbie Farah said he hoped Sheens would stay but was calling for a quick decision.

Early yesterday there was mounting speculation Sheens was ready to leave.

Some club insiders were tipping Ricky Stuart would emerge as the frontrunner for the vacant job at the Tigers.

A clearly frustrated Stuart said he had not spoken to the Tigers, adding his only focus was preparing for the upcoming Origin series.

"I have no other focus outside Origin," Stuart said.

"I am 100 per cent focused on doing my job with NSW and I will not allow any outside distractions to get in the way

of this.

"That I will guarantee you."

Stuart's manager John Fordham was equally bemused by the rumours linking Stuart to the Tigers.

"I am certainly not in any discussion with the Tigers," Fordham said.

"Not only the Tigers, we are not in discussions with any NRL club. Ricky is completely and utterly focused on Origin."

Panthers captain Petero Civoniceva said the Penrith players were still in the dark.

"I am probably the last bloke that will get told," Civoniceva told The Daily Telegraph.

"I don't know and to be honest I don't really care because my focus has got to be on the footy."

Civoniceva said the players felt for outgoing coach Matthew Elliott but said Elliott had personally promised he would not quit before the season's end.

"Matty has given me his word he is going to give it his all and we will do the same."

When asked his thoughts on Sheens' possible move to Penrith, Civoniceva said: "What can you say, his record speaks for itself.

"He has had such a decorated career as a coach.

"But I just don't want to make any other comment. I have Matty Elliott [still] here – I can't imagine how tough this whole situation is for Matty."

if sheens stays then ill live with it without a drama...... but he will retire one day........

are u kidding me? u would let benji go just like that? he is a once in a generation player current golden boot winner, best still in front of him. marshall should be kept at nearly all costs. if we lost marshall we would be nobodies for a very longtime. sure we have some great halves coming through but he would leave a massive hole in our attack and pulling power to the club. big fear now if sheens goes is the players he will take with him, the speculation of some players already doesnt look good.

Marshall is not going anywhere, god people are overreacting.

Sheens is ONE PERSON who is not bigger than the club. The club will not suddenly collapse if he leaves.

Y**ep,I should have used the qualifier"recently successful" for NRL coaches too..I mean Daniel Anderson was successful too at some stage ,& Jason taylor,Niel Henry & mathew Elliot wld have been considered successful at different times, but all have blotted their copybook with subsequent & more recent coaching gigs.**
Unlike Brown & Gentles who are coming off success.
Im a little more acceptable of Folkes cf other 1st grade coaches as firstly, the Board can see 1st hand his current contribution to WT & coaching potential,& secondly he was simply burnt out at Dogs & I can account for his demise to an extent.

Sounds like youre describing Sheens

Exactly.
Im really not sure after 9 years whether Sheens is or isnt a good coach, which is quite surprising in itself. He sure aint a Bellamy or a Bennett,I do know that.Suspect he's run of the mill with an excellent media presence
And I also know the whole place is stale, the players rarely respond to him,& Sheens wld do everyone a favor(most particularly himself)if he started fresh eslewhere
Anything BUT another 4 years ….aaargh! :deadhorse:

Good work kronic most people i know outside of this forum agree.

Isnt that saying something about the guys on here.

Don't criticize the forum mate, its a cross section of Tigers supporters, if ther is alot of anti-Sheens feeling on here, guess what, there must be alot of anti-sheens sentiment in our supporters as a whole.

I'm not fussed. I think Sheens is a great coach, he has done some great things at our club and has manufactured alot of players. He also has some unusual philosophies I don't agree with (bnech rotation and choices, Motlzen at fullback, the Morris halfback debacle, Farah as a 7, etc.)

Do I think its time for the club to move on, see if it can stand on it own two feet? Yes. He came to us and we were nothing, a lazy club that had potential but was still affected by Magpies vs Balmain. Now we are the most popular Sydney team, have a proffessional culture and are more known for our attacking football than the Balmain/Wests venture.

We're turning 11, time to grow up into our teen years and stop being fathered by Sheens. If he stays though, it is just delaying that break, and I guess thats OK too.

It is time for Tim 'Fonz' Sheens to move on.

He is killing our chances year after year. At the start of every round I tell my family he is the weakest link in our whole club.

And he is.

The Fonz is directly responsible for us losing games. The buck stops with him. No excuses. You will never hear him say he was at fault for a loss like what a noble coach would say.

He has a distinct inability to meet the requirements of today's game. He can not instill Mongrel and never had been able to. For years our side has been getting out muscled and outplayed by more physical sides. WT teams get tossed around like kids on the paddock and dominated to the point of embarrassment . If it was not for the naturally talents of Farah, Ellis and Marshall (& Prince - Hodgson) this team would never have won the games they have.

For all the Fonz supporters on this forum, for all the supporters that can comfortably sit in there seats and watch this so called coach make the same mistakes, week after week, month after month, year after year and pretend to feel comfortable with it, so you are not critical of the coach, shame on you all.

This person needs to be removed from this team immediately. He is ruining another year AGAIN.

He was the coach when Benji, Princey, Hodgo and Robbie won us the comp in 2005 and that should have been enough for him to leave .

He is a dismal failure since the start of the NRL in 98\. He had the worst coaching win/loss ratio of any coach .

He is a coward for never ever putting his hand up and saying at least one loss has ever been his fault.

Continuing to play players out of position and playing his favourites has been to the great detriment of this great WT club.

If he leaves now, we may just salvage our season.

The Fonz is yesterday's man who is no longer welcome by the majority of Wests Tigers fans who he torments and mentally punished every Tuesday afternoon which then manifests to a disaster on the field come game day .

He is a terrible coach, a coward and never learns from his mistakes.

Please leave Sheens.

PLEASE !!!!

Bug its time for you to bug out…..
