They only joined in 88 they had 10 or more current origin players in his squad plus and most of those played for australia as well so he didnt have bad cattle to work with did he and just a whole state of players to choose from.

If having all those players isnt a clear advantage over other teams then why dont we just get rid of the cap.Its not only financial why they introduced the cap you know.

88 THEY COME 7TH just missed out and 89 play off for fifth and lossed made it in 90 so its not bad

People in here judge him on his 60 odd win ratio comparing it to Sheens 50 and im saying its unfair to compare it to bennett cause of the above.

What else can you judge it on let him go to souths or cronulla or even penrith with no bottomless pit of money and see how he goes.

Just because they were internationals many guys who came from BRL(Brisbane Rugby League) weren't used to the week to week grind of NSWRL . In Brisbane they were probably only 3 teams Wynnum , Souths and Redcliffe that were remotely close to NSWRL standard . So many games they played were against sub standard opposition . It wasn't until Broncos got some seasoned vets into the club (Tony Currie , Sam Backo , Chris Johns , Biily Noke , Glen Lazarus , Peter Jackson )etc they became competitive .

Something else about that if we used current top 8 and Broncos make Semis with all the big game players they would been hard to stop from winning a premiership in those first 3 years .

Dont forget the Tigers Happy… 1983 we won!!! Brett Lehmann was the best Bronco in 1988, another great Brisbane Tiger...

Back on topic, I'm a Sheens fan and really like what he has bought to the Club... He made some very bad decisions in the late 90's to go to the Cowboys, and while he hasnt had as much success as a Bennett or Taylor ( loved it when bug posted that), its his achievements off the field that stand tall in my eyes!!!

I'm glad he is still here, I just want him to prepare his exit in a timely manner :sign:

They had plenty of experience from day 1 they took a while to gel yeah just missed the semis first year play off for fifth the 2nd year made the semis from then on. 😕

Panthers won in 1976 can we go that far back with the best scoreline i have ever seen in a football game 16-1 Thats correct folks 16-1 And they lead 1-0 also . Back on point yeah agree he made a bad decision going to Cowboys but he did make that decision Watto . Lets agree to disagree Bennett and Sheens are the two best coaches in the comp and we are fortunate to have I of them . Oh and Watto who is Brett Lehmann ?? Knew a lot of junior Broncos coming thru as played with and against them and cannot recollect that name .

Well, you dont know do you… Bennett hasnt coached Souths and it is still apart of your dream...

The fact is Bennett identified and developed 90% of the players he has had at the Broncos and turned them into representative players...

The fact to my point is the Sydney Clubs werent smart enought to identify the talent in Queensland, minus a few... (FTR - there was plenty of Talent Scouts at many BRL games and Schoolboy Carnivals)

The fact is your condescending comments dont faze me, they give me a good laugh. But for some reason, you seem to bite when someone throws one back at you...

:roll

Yeah i do and your the same.

Yeah he coached souths magpies big deal.Didnt have a bad team there either.

I did live in brisbane myself you know.

Im giving up on you i must of touched a nerve knocking your hero.

The facts are players didnt want to leave brisbane look how long it took wally miles etc they all got offered big money to come to sydney by manly they stayed in brisbane.

Brett scored the Broncos first try… I think it was le-man or something like that.

Brett Leman Yeah mate know who you are talking about now Good lock second rower

i reckon he was a forward playing on the wing, does that sound right?? I was only a kid at the time but seem to remember him a bit.
