It's a been a long time guys. I'm back. Miss me?

Question:

Would the loss of Tedesco be eased if tigers signed Foran or Cronk? And then signed someone like David mead as a fullback? Do you think tigers would be weaker or stronger?

I want to see the forward pack strengthened, that will help Brooks quite a bit and I wouldn't be opposed to giving Heleta a run at fullback next season if we were to lose Teddy and then go after someone like Foran who likes to play direct.

Forward pack will be strengthened. It's atop the new signings agenda with 2 outside backs. But don't want them to just sign anyone. Want them to be quality. Hoping the talks with vete/matulino come through to contracts.

This is good to hear, a killer forward pack is something we've never really experienced. If we get that right, with some solid props, dynamic second rowers and a good bench I feel that everything else will fall into place.

Tigers $$ offer won't be surpassed it's really if he wants to stay here or not. The club has done all it can, I believe the offer is now close to 1.2 mil a year. They have upped it from 975k they have been able to do this due to the Simona sacking and reduction in brooks contract. If teddy signs he should be buying brooks beers for the rest of his life

What's the length?

4 years. He wants longer but from what I've been told they don't want to go beyond that. Might be able to squeeze 5 years but I think teddy is after the 6-7 year range.

If he's prepared to be here for the next 6 or 7 years then he obviously has no problem with the direction the club is heading and its obviously a money issue. I think we'd look like desperate wrapping him for any more than 4 years.

Strange isn't it. I would think Teddys next contract (if he took a 4 year deal) would be the cream. He would be at the peak of his powers and who knows what the cap would be.

Yeah 4 years is good, 5 absolute max (and reduced pay) if he won't budge. Any longer is a massive risk - he's injury prone and I'm sure the club doesn't want to end up in a mess like it has previously in similar circumstances.

Yeah I have no idea why players are so keen to sign these long term deals these days. In 4 years the cap could be 12 million +. The taumololo deal shocked me. I feel he's cost himself a lot of money in that one.

All the conjecture with who could be our new fullback and five eighth will be when what we really needed all along were forwards and centres.
How times change.

If I were the WT I'd be putting a deadline to Woods to sign by RD7 or pull the contract….he really is not as good a prop as he thinks he is....Teddy we must keep at all costs and it seems like we have offered him the $$ no one else can match....

SG your ear is certainly closer to the ground than mine but I've heard for a number of years now that a number of key cowboy players have benefited from a property developer who puts in when necessary to keep the key players. My guess is that Taumalolo has a finger in that pie also.

So what exactly happened at the Wests Tigers Smoking Gun when you quit ??

Gee you'd hope your leak at the club doesn't get caught out , they'd be in lots of strife , wouldn't they ??

I can't believe Ayshford still has a contract in the NRL.
What a waste of space. One good season is all he ever had.

I thought the Tigers were who he supported? Does that mean the Moses rumour is made up too?

The Moses rumour isn't a rumour. He had quotes from Pascoe regarding it. And if he's a supporter that's a shock to me. Every night he calls them a basket case on NRL Tonight.

So does most of this forum

As much as it hurts GNR we usually are

I've got to agree with that.
Cleary could be the best thing in a long time at the WTs.
And there's some light ahead.
BUT if at least 4 or 5 of the new playertargets ( plus Teddy) simply say "No thanks "we are still behind the Eight Ball.
We've been a basket case for a long time and it's not going to change just because we wave some money at some off contract players. We need some of them to say yes( and I'm not talking about players like Mcqeen .
Cleary is no doubt the the sort of Coach that won't accept some of stuff that we've produced over the last few years. But the reputation that we've picked up over those years will not be easy to lose. And players will still be wary of coming here.
