'it's not about winning or losing, it's about being around g

As much as I hate to admit it, Benji is just soft. It shows on the field and now he's showing it off the field.

That's why IMO he always looks for the hail mary play. Not willing to work hard and do his job for the team, just thinking about what he can do individually and make himself look good. That's the difference between Benji, and players like Cronk and Thurston. Benji has far more natural ability than those 2, but doesn't have the work ethic.

I guarantee you will never hear Farah say 'it's not about winning or losing', that's why I'm glad he's captain and hope he stays a tiger for life.

Benji can be a free spirit in his own time.

It looks pretty fun at Melbourne and Manly these days what with playing in semis and grand finals every year….I'll take winning football over classy football any day.

Arrr yes, but classy footy that wins … That is the ultimate of ultimate prizes.

Every year, in bean counter speak their are 15 losing teams and just one bunch of wildly ecstatic supporters who go "yup" ... Odds are ... Unless you want to be consistently miserable ... There just has to be more to it all than simply going "yup" once every decade or so.

And Benji is Benji ... His strength is his weakness ... Your time, my time, his time ... Doesn't matter

Benji would be less soft if he had a halves partner. he has to organise/conjure up the attack for the team EVERY set. Thurston has always had Bowen and a stable halves partner, Cronk doesn't take any risks. He plays to structures to responds to set plays called by Cam Smith. You're comparison is idiotically unfair.

It's sport. A big part of it is gelling with your team mates. You can't win games unless you like who you're playing with.

I totally see what he's saying.

And btw, any comparison to Melbourne is stupid. They win games and do well in seasons, but they are an emotionless machine. They're successful, but I wouldn't want to pay that price.

So funny; I normally dont like what Benji has to say on that show. But tonight in what was obviously a difficult situation I thought he handled himself really well.

And to all the tough guys who seem to think it is out of order to shed a tear when a mate leaves the club, you have no idea. Based on what was said tonight its clear that the Tigers team is a close knit bunch as you would need to be to win a premiership. All the ingredients for success seem to be there - bar one.

Well Pymblepete you mention about( the Tigers being a close knit bunch as you would need to be to win a priemiership) in that case what has been happening since 2005 they haven't gone anywhere near achieving a premiership :crazy
I believe that they (including the coaching staff) have all become too close knit and complacent, and have forgotten how to win. They definitely have a responsibility to the fans/ members/sponsors/club, so I think some sort of shakeup is needed :bash

i'm not sure how you forget to win after winning 7 straight.

the question is if the coach helped put them in a position to win.
player selections, bench use, substituting players showing good game day form with players out of form.
poor performers playing 80mins every week.

a half decent coaching effort would have made the finals.

Yes, the shuffling around in the halves hasn't helped. Have you ever considered Benji might be part of the reason he hasn't clicked with another half since Prince was here? Maybe part of the reason for all the shuffling is Benji won't allow another half to take control.

Benji having Farah at dummy half is not too dissimilar to Cronk having Smith there. Thurston has only had a stable halves partner this year.

I'd rather have a team who are tough enough to grind their victories than the flamboyant rocks or diamonds style. They finished 2nd, we finished 10th. Enough said.

They have forgotten how to win Priemierships Bonstonker :roll However you are right with regards to player selection, ie moving several players in a team to replace one player/ not using the bench correctly/players out of position :crazy lets hope good sense comes with this purported "shakeup" 😛ray:

My biggest peave with this season was the switching of positions like a adhd sex addict!
IMO cohesion is key.
With all the trouble we had throughout this season, (bearing injuries) i fealt the main thing that effected us was the switching of positions which in turn effected our cohesion. If you look at the best performances we put in this year it was when we came together as a team and every key position was played effectivelly and everything else flowed. It all fell apart when we were exposed in certain areas where players were switched and swapped and made to play in positions that we just straight up lacked cohesion. When you know your postion and role in the team and can then rely on those around you being confident in their role to support the group objective it will be much more effective IMO

you compete in games to win, otherwise there would not be winners & losers.
does history care if you finiish second.
no.
seems some mental toughness is lacking.
when it returns, well who knows.

one thing I do not want to see wests-tigers win is the " wooden spoon"
