Maybe if we are an established semi final appearing team…..but were not, weve had mega problems and are in a rebuilding phase.....to put it simply, obtaining a winning culture is not only about onfield results....its about everything that leads up to those results, and performing well regardless of the end result is part of getting a winning culture :neutral_face:

A winning culture is all of the above and also believing undoubtably that you will win.

Look I wouldnt give up after losing to the knights. But we need to win. We needed to win a couple of extra games last year and we make the finals. Not that that would have helped us.

But before a game I think the mentality for the team and supporters should be - we will win. No ifs or buts.

You can say it will be a tough game… But we will win.

Well…thats the difference between you and me.
You clearly expect the team to make the semis.
I see it as being an unrealistic goal, I'd love for it to
happen, but with all thats occured, I cant see it
happening until maybe next year or '15.
 
I can see a win..Moltzen taking a high ball and sprinting through the defence to score…Blair involving himself in the middle of the park in defence and attack AND not conceding one penalty..Benji refusing to run sideways and Ayshford sprinting from the half way and outrunning the Newcastle backs....it can happen..LOL.
 
It's never okay to lose but it's a reality. We're going to lose games. This Newcastle game won't be easy. They've got a great pack who can go over the top of us and prevent us from doing what we desire. Tricky first up game.
 
I would prefer they play well particularly defend well and lose then how they played 1st game last year against cronulla and win. Just want them to be competitive in first half while potter sorts them out and get them really firing in the back half of the comp. players like miller and teddy are going to take some time to feel confident and comfortable at nrl level.

that's human nature.

as long as you try your best and know you gave it everything you are capable of, even though the scoreboard my not reflect this, you have actually achieved.

how you cope with it and move on/forward is a good judge of your character.

Can't argue with that. If we do lose, I'd like to see an improvement in the defensive structure and see the Knights really work hard for the win, rather than run away with the game. Still, I see no reason why we won't at least be competitive and push them all the way.
 
Never OK to Loose.

I can understand at times if we do but I never allow a mentality where it is an option before the event.

Yeah that was very hollow and an undeserved win, the next 5 games were testament to it

Prefer to put in and play real well and not get a result, but get some hope and insight for the future as opposed to a lucky charity win like last year

I like to see things earnt, rather than given won in a lucky dip

Making semis has to be the primary goal. It is in no way unrealistic; it is very achievable - for every team. Consistency is the key.
 
It's not okay to lose but it is okay to be realistic. I give us even money hope against the Knights and that is more than most people are giving us. I think we will surprise people on Monday night. The Knights look like just the type of side that the Tigers exploit on a regular basis. They have a very Canberra look to their forward pack if you ask me.

And look at our bench. For once I think our bench is better than the opponents. And not just a little, it's MILES better. If Woods comes into the starting side and Buchanan to the bench it'll be the meanest bench we've fielded in years. BMM and Thompson are gonna cause serious headaches when they come on.

1-17 we've got them covered. We will win this game handsomely imo.
 
I think this is a big game for us. Round 2 and 3 sees us against weaker sides, if we pick up a win here we are a great chance to go 3-0, and go on a run to start the season. Every game we win now is one less game we have to win come crunch time, be it a top 8, top 4 or minor premiership race we are in.
 
it's okay to lose if you did everything that you could and put up a good fight.
i've lost plenty of things through life that i could have prevented.i could have fought harder or used better judgement,or simply cared at that moment in time.
my daughter had her first swimming season last year.
never won a race but improved her time every swim meet.
she dedicated herself to training twice a day and saw that the process was improving her,even though the medals weren't coming.

that is all i can ask from her and my football team.

Depends how you measure a win… It is very rare in a team sport for the team as a unit to be absolutely perfect, and sometimes no matter how close to the elusive perfect game they can play, on any given day, that might not be enough, and I am ok with that.

Its more a matter of how you lose that is important. Im an original Magpie, Im used to losses, but as long as the give it a red hot go Im one happy camper...

I hope that is the teams goal….you dont seem to understand my opinion, and the teams goal, can be very different
