It's okay to vent

Well I'm glad we have cleared that up Jerry and Mama…

No blood spilt either.......

Hopefully there is a lesson to be learnt from this confrontation, for a moment there I thought we may have to call the fire brigade for fear of a forum meltdown...

As long as all is good with everyone, let's find a new topic of conversation shall we....(I love this forum it has character)s.....

It's being a very long off-season. Sounds like people are getting frustrated.
About 20 days to go.

Here here TT it has a good bunch of characters this forum.

Hi all,
This vent is a follow-on from Happy's "Blame big business and their need for greed".

The exact same things re price structures Happy mentioned are happening up this way but what concerns me more is the insidious creep of bottom line, profit driven management into everything.

Very recently local council decided to scrap one of its programs. It was run as a small business and had high overheads and very low price margins so consequently ran at a financial loss. It was discontinued and the staff terminated or redeployed because it was running at a loss.

What was not considered was that the program provided significant base resources for the community. This in turn enabled employment 'start' programs for youth and restart programs for minor offenders from the local prison system as well as volunteer opportunities for local school kids, families and retirees.

One of the local business people recognised the value of the program and promised to bankroll any losses for the next 12 months until a new business model could be developed. Local volunteer groups guaranteed that they would redouble their efforts to keep the program running and help keep costs down.

Nonetheless the program was scrapped. It was a simple, single minded decision based solely on costs to council. This concerns me because this simple mindedness fails to consider the positives of the community utility of the program and the negative follow ons from failing to provide initial employment opportunities for youth and outlets for improvement for minor offenders. What will the future financial costs of that be?

Unfortunately small minded financial decisions seem to be the way many things are being managed now, at the expense of community. I understand that if we need to cut costs, we need to cut costs but we need to look at a full spectrum of solutions to our financial/social issues before we get get out the axe. Unless we take the blinkers off I think we are headed in an unhappy direction.

Vent over.

put it this way - if you dont have a financial plan for yourself & your family the government will put one in place for you. If you dont set any goals then you will become a part of the governments goals
The ball's in your court.

That's true AHX but how many families factor in community support programs when making their plans? I know we did, not to the point of dependance but for mutual benefit, I.E. we volunteer our time and expertise but also gain access to the resources provided. That resource is now simply not available and I will have to review alternatives.

trust me NT - there are alternatives out there and there's always a positive embedded in a negative. Always. Find the positive/s and you're well on your way.

Jerry…. I'm not in to doll houses and i'm not in to men with weak mentalities. I'm a strong, independent, free thinking woman.

I'am not a one in a million kind of girl,
I'am a once in a life time
Kind of woman!

So yes, i can handle the boys on here. My question to you Jerry is...... Can u handle a strong woman on this forum expressing her views???
Vent over!

Absolutely I can handle it Tigermama and I read your posts and agree with them for the most part youre a strong independent, free thinking woman etc etc etc and thats great and by me knowing you are a nurse means you are a lifesaver which is great.Im into Lifesaving myself but my ones a little riskier I tread where those men with weak mentalities
fear to tread.

Im also surely not a chauvinist either as I judge your posts on merit rather than the fact that you are a woman and I just agree with all your post .Im sure yourself that you would find that a little condescending.

You see for some on here(minority)this forum to them is nothing but a popularity contest.I Guess this is a typical trait of the "mentally weak" you alluded to (anyhow I wouldnt know cause that aint me).I want the betterment of the Wests Tigers and that Is why I post on here. Its amazing how some of them mentally weak on here(can I say that well you did so I guess I can to)try to pigeon hole other posters as certain types of people just cause they disagree with a post.

For eg Flippedy on another thread tonight saying to me "You sir are a complete tosser" aswell as calling me a number of names.**My question to flip who Ive never even met for one minute prior to his definitive judgement of me is How do you know this "sir" is even a male. You dont.Simple.**Fact is you dont know jack squat bout me other than a few words over the internet. But dont let that get in the way of your definitive judgement of me.

Its fine Flip my shoulders are extremely broad and if we met in person Im pretty sure you would be wishing you "revisited" your judgement of me as a "tosser".I dont say that in a way of tough guy machoness but in a way that you would see Im actually a deep thinker and a guy that realises its different strokes for different folks.Again Flip I dont "stroke" much myself   Pretty sure I could beat you in an arm wrestle too  but whats the use of muscle if it comes with no brains.

AHX,GNR4life and TrueTiger thanks for coming to my defence a little this afternoon you are two guys that are real "lifers" and you look at things the way should be looked at and Im sure its the cards that you both have been dealt in life that allow for you to realise the importance of looking this way.

Look at every level of The rugby league game whether its players, coaches, admin etc do you think the best(winners)come from those who just agree with everything and are yes sir men(or women) or free thinkers and those prepared to question the masses and think a little outside the square. And I feel that if we discuss things in a candid, open and honest way(minus the popularity vote)on here well then it is better for the Wests Tigers.Make no mistakes we as one have no voice but we as a whole on here have an extremely loud voice and it is the members that Grant Mayer,JT,players and co are listening to this I do know as fact.

I was one of Robbies Harshest critics(at times)last year and my opinions were because of the off field crap that was going on etc but I on numerous occasions this year have come to his defence this year as I am also of the opinion that he deserves another chance to let his off field performances match his onfield performances which are courageous and brilliant.I also not for one second last year thought whatever Robbie did was intent to be to the detriment of the Wests Tigers but in the end it was re Potter etc.

Finally Tigermama you are one of my favorite posters(fact which I truly mean) and I will apologise for one thing(and only one thing :astonished: )the dolls house reference. It did come across a little condescending and immature and that wasnt my intention its just as Im sure you can appreciate the message I was trying to get across was that a 90% boys football forum is gonna have a little mud thrown from time to time and you,me and everyone else wouldnt want to change it for the world Im sure.

And super-finally  I guess Im the type of guy(yes flip you were right about that part  )who when asked by a girl "does my butt look big in this" when the other 99 million have said no you look great in it I am that one in a hundred million guy that will say how you actually look in it.Which guy is doing you the disservice Im sure you are more than a strong enough independent free thinking woman to work that one out for yourself.

Rant over :blah :blah well not actually cause this aint a rant just my true feelings without any politically correct, fake crap associated with it.Have a good night Tigermama and all.

Ummm let me see Jerry….because you actually stated that you were male in your comment

Oh, and by the way, I have never called you any other names, apart from the tosser comment, for which I now apologise - must've been one of my weak mental moments  The rest of my post was addressing the actual _comments_ that you made in your post to Tigermama, not you personally.

Flip,I didn't think you had a weak mental moment,your usually quite lucid…..

Ahhhh must be pre season and the anticipation of a great season ahead...

I have to give Jerry credit he has fessed up and apologised for his condesending manner.....a good man will admit to a mistake, which is a good thing....
