WT HCs get zero support. They are absolutely set up to fail and have to leave to find any sort of success. I’m not sure anyone would want the jobDo you expect the issues with coach to be fixed should Benji go though? Whoever our next coach is will ultimately fail as well. He’ll most likely have a weakened roster than what Benji currently has as players will walk like every time we’ve changed coaches and the club won’t recruit anyone good to take their place so ultimately the criticism Benji is copping now and every coach before him copped at some point, will happen again with the next coach and you’ll be calling for his head within 2-3 years.
Signing players has been a problem considering majority of Ivan’s signings no other club wanted and overpaid for in that matter. Madge struggled for a long time until we managed to get Api and Ice (until he tried to get out before coming), Bateman and Klemmer were dud Sheens signings and to Benji’s credit he got players that other clubs would want, but they’ve struggled to play at their best consistently. And should Benji move on whoever’s our next coach is going to struggle big time. I hope that if the position becomes available, no one applies so they get spared the curse that we are.We say that, but Cleary came in & signed a bunch of guys that had him humming along before he jumped ship. Benji comes in & signs a bunch of guys etc.
Signing players isn't the problem.
The club needs to hold it's nerve.
I don’t expect many good coaches to put their hand up for the job should it become available. It’ll either be a rookie trying to hope for the best, or someone who’s desperate to get back into coaching.WT HCs get zero support. Trent Barrett or Flanno lolI don’t expect many good coaches to put their hand up for the job should it become available. It’ll either be a rookie trying to hope for the best, or someone who’s desperate to get back into coaching.
Honestly it will probably be one of them, no one else is desperate enough to be a coach at the Tigers. Maybe even Seibold will put his hand up as well.Trent Barrett or Flanno lol
If we really want to focus on the coach - I actually think 2 quality assistants and a Coaching Director would be more help than punting Benji.Honestly it will probably be one of them, no one else is desperate enough to be a coach at the Tigers. Maybe even Seibold will put his hand up as well.
That could work, but I don’t think the club will do that.If we really want to focus on the coach - I actually think 2 quality assistants and a Coaching Director would be more help than punting Benji.
Chad agree about holding nerve, But if we can't get basic rights who is to blame??We say that, but Cleary came in & signed a bunch of guys that had him humming along before he jumped ship. Benji comes in & signs a bunch of guys etc.

they extended "the way we want to play" for 5 years - does that make a zot of difference?6 10 6 0 ... These are our scores over the past 4 weeks. Pop Quiz:
1. Name the 3 players & their positions, who scored the tries? (Hint: no one last weekend)
2. When was the last time we scored a backline try?
3. Why do we bother having wingers and centres or a fullback for that matter?
All of the 4 losses were due to the opposition running harder than us before sending it wide into and thru our miserable edge defence.
We are so lucky that Hudson Young is missing this next round.
But I have a sense of hope. A positive vibe, if you will. If HBG (the topic of this Thread) can strap on the boots this weekend, they may be able to show us how it's done! Turn up ya radio folks - it's because I love youse ... yeah!~ or maybe it makes not a zot of difference who is on the Board cos maybe it's the "way we want to play" which I am finding an unconvincing remark from Benji far too often. Einstein said the sign of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Benji should be on notice. It's because I love the Club! 🐯 🐯 🐯 🍻
Benji's ego would never accept that....If we really want to focus on the coach - I actually think 2 quality assistants and a Coaching Director would be more help than punting Benji.
Feel like it’d have to be someone Benji trusted, hence my suggestion to bring in Wayne to oversee the roster management side of it.Benji's ego would never accept that....
I think that's unfairBenji's ego would never accept that....
Really, it just coincidence that all his assistants and large chunk of the football department are his 05 teammates.I think that's unfair
You have to wonder how in demand coaching jobs at WT would be, lot of blokes careers get wound up there.Really, it just coincidence that all his assistants and large chunk of the football department are his 05 teammates.
It's statistically impossible that each one of the won their jobs on merit.....
There would be plenty, there are so few sporting clubs at an elite level in this country. You have to wonder how in demand coaching jobs at WT would be, lot of blokes careers get wound up there.
I think a lot of the best coaches follow the well walked path. Get a job at an elite club and stay until a favourable one opens up. E.g Fitzy, Ryles. There would be plenty, there are so few sporting clubs at an elite level in this country.
There would be people queuing up for a crack. Our problem is we either can't identify, we select the wrong people or we are not patient enough.
We had Tod Payten, Andrew Webster and Ben Gairdner in our coaching ranks who all left through lack of opportunity.
That's just a few off the top of my head ......
