While HBG and any other stakeholders we currently have, have any involvement we will never get anywhere. None of our former or current owners were ever really willing to walk away from the past and embrace the future. Both Wests and Balmain are failed Rugby League clubs. They had their chance. Neither Wests or Balmain have the right through arrogance or ego to ruin ours. Its time we killed the past and embraced the future. No more Wests and no more Balmain. Get rid of the magpie, the old Balmain logo, the Wests and Balmain teams in our feeder system and rebrand them Wests Tigers. No more garbage retro jerseys black and gold or white and black, we have a retro jersey of our own. Either the 2000 inaugural jersey or the 2005 premiership strip. No more Elias, Roach or Epifana. We have our own legends like Ben Galea, Farah, Marshall, Hodgo. We need to once and for all rip the band aid off and imo kill off any connection to the past. We have our own 25 year past to lean on now. Or factianalism and self interest will leave us stagnating for generations from groups who are too stupid to realise the teams they idolise wete abject failures, hence the need to merge.New directors or independent board however you want to dress it is a band aid fix lipstick on a pig. need to sell to private preferably laundry but won't happen. Owners too obsessed with a magpie
We know, cause just like the Magpies and Balmain were we are perennial losers.Don't listen too the radio mate. I'm not sure what your problem with the Magpies is as they are one of the owners of Wests Tigers. Go find someone else to argue with.
Not this guy. I just really dislike the meddling of HBG and the incompetence they supportCan I ask a simple question
How many fans wear Balmain jerseys at Leichhardt Oval
How many fans wear Wests jerseys at
Campbelltown
I'm anti HBG .....but I wonder if much of the hatred for Campbelltown comes from. Balmain fans originally.....then WTs fans
I don't think it's a hatred for Campbelltown there is just not the same connection to it given that the club is an inner west club. You will see a whole lot different jumpers there on any given day retro and current. Can I ask a simple question

Is it a retro top? Could just be for fashion. Especially if it's a long sleeve with a collar. I'd love to have one of those.Theres two in the front row tonite in Balmain jumpers on 100% footy...look.to be in their 30s.
Plenty.like them at games too
This clinging to the past isnt going away anytime soon
Go buy one then...get some Staggers jeans and a hyper colour t shirt while your at itIs it a retro top? Could just be for fashion. Especially if it's a long sleeve with a collar. I'd love to have one of those.
Oh, no, no ,no not the Staggers, cut you in half and make your voice squeak, well maybe if you want to sing like a soprano.Go buy one then...get some Staggers jeans and a hyper colour t shirt while your at it
Interesting. I purchased the current WT jumper on my way to the game against the cows in Townsville. The old retro jumpers were available, and looked good, but I made the conscious decision not to buy one. I wasn't there to support Balmain.Theres two in the front row tonite in Balmain jumpers on 100% footy...look.to be in their 30s.

I think it's hard to say which is a bigger problem, funding or ownership structure. You can have an independent board but if they can not access a lot more funding we are going nowhere fast. Funding is our no1 problem, we are run on a shoe string budget compared to most clubs. A strong budget allows you to get the best people in at all levels levels of the football operation especially grass roots.
Although I do agree our current governance system has to be dissolved and replaced with a system that has some accountability and the debenture system is sent back to the Stone Age where it came from
I hope this point doesn't get lost among all the other conversations.I mean the people involved. The 20 debenture holders, for some reason, wrestled the club back from an optimal structure, and I don't know if you've managed to contact any of them and find out what story they are telling. Do we have any insight into their psyche or rationale there, and why they still persist as we are today?
I mean, understanding their reasons is probably the best way to make change. I assume it's just ego's / power trippin, but it would be interesting if there is any nuance there. Have you ever seen them open to dialog?
Spot on , if the nrl was going to do something it would have been done early this year , yes they did step in to a degree and order the independent members back on to the board , but those members would not want to take a spot when it’s forced to be given , HBG knew what they were doing they didn’t feel they had all the power so they made a power play and it turned into a mini mess but they got what they wanted in the end a majority of HBG inside the wests tigers board , Barry jumping back in was a shock but maybe PVL ask him to stay in so he can keep any shit things going on dripped to PVL from Barry I don’t know but , we def need a voice who knows exactly who and what is going on at HBG level , these people are mostly magpies people , but we need the real info , Richo would know but he probably can’t say a word after his departure , payment with a silence clause , we need a current board member who has been there a while to jump ship , or we need someone to buy the joint of HBG but do it in a way that HBG just let it go , it needs info , money , strong voice and well known who will fight all the way to make Wests Tigers their priority accross the grades ,We need a figure with credibility and a huge public platform, that has been close to the coal face, to come out and expose HB for what they are, someone that the NRL might take notice of and effect change somehow.
Someone more than.Darcy Byrne chirpin away
If you get rid of HBG would most likely mean you have a new owner , new owner would only happen if the nrl allowed the sale which means the new owner/ owners would be loaded and they would be all in , they would spend to get the results , they would also have watched the last 10 odd years and know it’s only up for the wests tigers we can’t go much lowerI think it's hard to say which is a bigger problem, funding or ownership structure.
If we don't change the structure, extra funds is unlikely to help us as well.
If we change the structure, get rid of HBG, have an independent board- that could mean we lose whatever little money and connections we get through HBG.
