It's time to take the fight back to HBG

Thinking outside the square
A what if
What if someone ( Harry) came through the back door and purchased Balmain Tigers and repaid the debt back to wWests Ashfield
A new board of equal number from both sides with an independent chairman to run Wests Tigers
Just a thought
I don't think HBG would have left clauses in to recoup that percentage. Or, at a minimum, they would have sunset it after a period of time.

But a split board is even worse man. Lets not go back there.

Won't happen. Balmain Tigers as a leagues club concern are defunct and are wholly owned by HBG. Balmain Tigers are Wests Ashfield. They wouldn't sell a controlling interest in the club. Balmain Tigers RLFC only holds 10% shares in the JV and has no controlling power. HBG have absolute zero incentive to sell off control over the club.

Joel, I don't think the confrontational approach towards the HBG taken by many of your followers within this forum is the way to gain a united strategic direction. Maybe there is another way mate.
You’re right, we should just bend over and take it like your beloved Magpies did for 50+ years because your idea of success was getting the occasional win over the silvertails while winning wooden spoons.

How many more years of board dramas, sackings, lawsuits, sabotage andmissing the finals will it take for Magpie first stans like yourself to open your eyes?

We’re a mediocre basket case and if you can’t see HBG/Wests Ashfield grubby paws all over that, there’s no amount of reason that will get through to you or the 200 remaining septuagenarian Magpie supporters.

If the NRL was smart they would. This club is an abomination on the game, a statistical outlier particularly in the modern game.
I agree. But why would the NRL care? Take the emotion as a supporter out if it. It’s front and centre for us as supporters of the club. For them, HBG are a blip on the radar.

Yes there could be another way, I'm hoping the new CEO, Barry and someone from Marcarthur can build a better relationship between the football club and HBG. He indicated this is one of his answers.

Maybe they might appreciate a different approach than Richo's 'gung ho' style and be more willing for change?

I think they would be more willing to invest in the Wests Tigers if they can see more profits and a stronger outlook.

It could be the Wests Tigers best way forward?

I don't comment any more but I'll make an exception for you just this once. It's people like you who give morons a bad name. Go and follow Ryde Eastwood.
Forgive me if I don’t give two shits about what some 4 post septuagenarian has to say. Go back to your corner of irrelevance and stay put.

Unfortunately history shows they ran the show and had compliant CEO/Chairman and the result was 💩

I learned a new word this week. I was surprised there was no picture of Darcy Byrne next the the dictionary entry.

You have to give the guy credit though, he's really playing the long PR game to try and get his profile up before having a crack at a federal house of reps seats when Albo retires:

demagogue

American
[dem-uh-gog, -gawg]/ ˈdɛm əˌgɒg, -ˌgɔg /
Or demagog

noun

  • demagogues
  1. a person, especially an orator or political leader, who gains power and popularity by arousing the emotions, passions, and prejudices of the people.
So Darcy Byrne is wanting to do something to address the governance of Wests Tigers. I'm not sure about you but I have been a member of Wests Tigers RLC for many years. I am not a member of Wests RLC nor Balmain RLC but West Tigers. As a member, I get NO say in the running of the club. We have lots of passionate supporters like me who get NO say in the running of the club. Here's another couple of terms you might like to add to your vocabulary:
Naysayer, Cynic
Look them up ...... just saying!
I would like to be a member of a club in which I have say in its future direction and the expenditure of funds allocated to it by ARLC.

Sorry, could you please expand on what you mean and how this relates to the new CEO & Barry trying to bring the parties together.
Just saying they seem to be able to oversee a dysfunctional wests tigers whether they are in total control or at arms length under an independent arrangement. I don’t think some blended arrangement with HBG overseeing the arrangement will change anything and history suggests HBG will blow it up if it shows any promise.

What avenues are there available to affect the change though Gary. Like i posted earlier even if they listen, whats to stop them from reneiging in 2 years time to do a hostile takeover again. They have us fans by the berries. They own the joint with total control. The petitions last time worked cause there were those in the HBG board who were sympathetic to the cause and were willing. This time after the last 2 years, whos on their board now that would be willing to listen and apply pressure from within. HBG will just ride it out and hide behind the debunture system till the heat settles. Only way i could see permanent change without a sale is if Velandys demended it on behalf of the N.R.L and dictated the board make up, but being privately owned and seeing the appetite he had for it last year doubt very much he cares. Were just in a rock and a hard place because we have no avenue to affect any permanent change without the HBG boards blessing. A board set up so no matter how poor they perform they are untouchable.
I will have so more news on this in just over a weeks time.
