Ivan Cleary - THREAD..

Just watching FOX and the bee sting head Gould interview this morning. He says he issued a twitter statement to Manly fans after the Barrett rumours last week, because Barrett was not going to Penrith and he wanted Manly fans to know…. and I quote..."we were not going to steal their coach"

.......but he is happy to try and steal ours.

If any of you think Gould is a good fella or a decent man or a rugby league guru, have another look. Swearing is banned on our forum so I cant call him the F or the C that I think he is! He is a grub. Filth. Scum.

Gus may have stuffed up here with the football department cap.

Hooks salary plus new guys salary plus settlement all go into this amount $5.7m everything over costs an extra 37% tax. Estimates are it’s $3m if it’s cleary (Tele) plus the tax makes it a big chunk of $5.7m. It probably works out at a huge hit this year and cuts needed for the next 2.

You dont know what 'if' or 'it seems' means?

:brick:

Your thread is titled "**New Coach, who should we target**?

Followed by "**looks like Ivan's gone**"

Do you know what IF or IT SEEMS means?

Keep banging your head son, might do you some good.

"It looks like Ivans gone"

"Ivan has gone"

Theres a difference

Calm the hell down youre getting all dramatic over nothing

I'm very calm, not sure about the dramatic though. Might be a standard reply you have? , don't think it applies to me.

My point was, someone mentioned the fun at reading back through the chicken little posts when this is sorted and I mentioned your clanger of a thread being the king of all "sky's falling" titled " new coach, who should we target" i didn't mention you specifically because you come across quiet emotional on here and i really didn't want to be involved in that…but here we are. Anyways, you can distance yourself from the comments all you want. The fact is, you saw a Face twittergrambook and went ahead and threw the Ivan out with the bath water. all good, we all get caught up in these types of things from time to time. As you were.

Yep…as I thought, drama queen.

They have the coin to cover the extra tax .

If I were on the board, I would make him see out his contract. If he's not available to coach Panthers, Gus will be up the proverbial creek.

Exactly - and if he doesn't want to or drags his feet let him coach RMC - no more buckling under to players or coaches. The teams at the top are there because they are ruthless - we have always been the bunny - no more i say.

I doubt you could do that, his contract would state hes coaching the NRL squad…you cant drop coaches on form or attitude to reggies.

Cutting off our nose to spite Penrith to keep a coach who doesnt wanna be here (IF thats the case and he wants to take up penrith offer)..wouldnt do us any good

I have been laughing about this all morning saying how ridiculous it is.

It is now the end of the work day and the Tigers have yet to make an official statement saying LOL NO.

This is frustrating as it now does seem like a reality.

What a joke.

It's funny how the League World works, Gus is not accountable to anything ,he's responsible for extending Griffin's contract till the end of 2020 at the beginning of the year and Griffin has made the finals the last 3 years.
Nice to be in Gus's World

The bell end got the job of signing Souths players when they got back in and then spent years bagging their shite playing roster. And he is very unattractive.

Although, gus would not sack the coach if he didn’t have some sort of knowledge that maybe if offered a contract to coach there Ivan would take it.
We’re always on the sour end of the stick which sucks.

The bottom line is he can only go to Penrith if WT release him - for once i hope this club shows some bollocks and refuses a request for release should he ask for one. I don't care if we get the wooden spoon for the next 2 years that he is stuck here. His stocks would fall dramatically, Penrith and Gould would like like fools and in the eye of every other supporter of NRL Wests Tigers would be heroes for having the guts to tough it out.

Way too generous.

Not just the cash for the tax. Also the reduced operating budget for the next few years.

Go and Pascoe have both made statements confirming that Ivan Cleary will see out the remaining two years of his contract. Now that makes it extremely difficult for Gould with decision time for Nathan Cleary fast approaching.

Ian Chappell always offered the view that you do what your opponent least wants you to do.

The silence from IC is, however, deafening.
He could put this to bed in a minute if he wanted to.
Strange.
I hope he stays but the longer it drags on without a statement from him the uneasier I get.

A glass half full take on it, Gould knows Ivan won't come, so when Nathan leaves to come here, he can say we done everything to keep Nathan here, even offered his dad a job. Gould cops no flak for losing the origin halfback, probably not the real story, but one that wouldn't surprise, also might make sense why the club is mostly silent.
