What’s ‘hilarious’ and ‘comival’ Is experienced and valued posters taking the piss out of all the other posters who are just writing genuine, heart felt opinions about stuff we care about. Less sarcasm might actually encourage more people to contribute

Don't see where it was said no one cares or cant post their heart felt opinions

Its funny because people basing their opinions on what is reported in the media were ready to string him up and run Cleary out of dodge….then when facts are presented from the club it's a total backflip....

But hey it was on TV..and in the paper

People are responding emotionally to every ‘next bit’ of information. Me too. That’s to be expected.

Initially I think everyone was shocked that someone we respected could act totally against what he seemed to value. This turned to anger when it seemed to be true. Now it’s just pure confusion because of all the lies and spin. We don’t know what to believe.

And I think that’s fair enough at the moment

Facts people, facts…not too many people are considering the facts. I'm an investigator so it's my bread and butter - making assumptions does not come into it - it's inherently dangerous. So let's look at the facts:

Phil Gould sacks Anthony Griffin - both have had their say in the media as to why but what we do know is - they don't get along;
Cleary is friends with a guy that works at Penrith (David O'Neill) - they catch up regularly;
O'Neill floats the idea of Ivan coming back to Penrith to coach (exactly how and when we don't know);
Ivan tells Pascoe that Penrith have made an approach to him;
Pascoe informs Ivan that IF he asks for a release, it will be denied;
Pascoe informs the Wests Tigers board including Marina Go;
Gould says Penrith have a "preferred coach" in mind but to date have 13 people interested in the job;
Gould has attempted to call Go, she has not returned his call;
Pascoe and Go both issue statements to the media and public advising that Ivan has not asked for a release, and if he does it will be denied and the Tigers will dig in (from a legal and compensation perspective) and say they won't be pushed around by other clubs;
Gould issues a statement saying he does not expect to see Ivan at Penrith next year; and
Ivan still has not sought a release.

They are the basic facts of the matter. Throw the media into it and this is where the water begins to turn muddy. The media speculates - in the rugby league world they do it all the time. They report things which simply are not true and some people are naïve enough to swallow it. For example, they said Ivan told the players he may not be there next year as he has a tough family decision to make - Marina Go confirmed this was falsely reported - but that news piece in itself sends people into hysteria and jumping to conclusions.

There is no conclusion just yet, but the facts point towards Cleary staying. If he does go, well those details are either yet to be worked out, or yet to be made public.

I wouldn't take anything Gus says as a fact…. More likely a lie

What deal Gus said no offer has neen made.

The answer will be No

Then why doesn’t Ivan come out and lay it all to rest ?

Is he sooking that WT won’t let him go ?
:laughing:

Marina go addressed that last night..

I think Go’s been kept in the dark like the rest of us …

All she kept stating was ...
“As far as I know “...

Siebold was on the radio this morning squashing rumours about his tenure at Souths .
Why can’t ivan do the same ??

I know you don’t believe in TV and newspapers .....

Radio ??

Heard the same thing hobbo and thought….wheres cleary...thought the same thing as you

Outplayed, outsmarted.
Amateurs!

Gosh I disagree with this.

This was not outsmarted. People who stoop really low are notoriously hard to predict.

I hold my head high as a Tiges member. I back Pascoe and Go 100% in this

Tigers are the one player in this mess that actually have enhanced their reputation. What have they done to be labeled as amateurs. They have done exactly what any other club would do in the same situation.

The final outcome may end up with Cleary getting his release, but at no stage has this club done anything that could label them as amateurs….quite the opposite

Penrith played their check mate move in the papers today.

Article saying they will wait the 2 years and sign Ivan at the end of it if they have to. They'll happily stay with Corals.

Can't see the West's Tigers being able to get around that. Even if Ivan cane out and said he was staying we would be nothing more than his transit lounge.

We couldn't build towards the future or recruit properly or even go about normal day to days without it being an issue for 2 years.

Game over!

Get the best compensation we can from the deal and move on

Exactly right. His position here is untenable. What a scum of a person. Took us for a ride when we brought him out of the wilderness when he was unemployed. The minute penrith brought up him coaching there he should have walked away. I hope this goes down as one of the worst moves in history and him and his son have nothing but losses and failure to come in the future.

And what if Ciraldo wins a comp with them in those two years…. And Cleary gets us to top 4 or whatever.... A lot can change in a week in RL let alone two years

NC's new contract will have a father clause in it.

That is the soft underbelly which WTs exploit. No agreeing to take overpaid underperformers but players like Blake and Gus' absolute favourite, Yeo.

The longer Ivan says nothing the more it appears he has has downed tools on the club which will be hugely disappointing.

Perhaps Gould is going to move on at the end of the season - trying to join some dots. Going back to work for him would be a disgusting move fraught with danger for him.

I would call their bluff.

They are smack bang in the middle of a premiership window, and they expect people to believe they will appoint a caretaker coach for over two years, and bide their time until Mr 48% is off contract?

They will appoint a high profile coach who will demand at least 3 or 4 years.

In the meantime Nathan will have to decide whether he wants to join his dad at the Tigers, or remain at Penrith longterm under a different Coach.

If we play the long game, we win.

There's nothing to suggest we are being played. Not to say it won't happen. But its unfair to assume based on little or no info.

The aim of the game was to get both Clearys.

Outplayed!

Yes we may end up with good compensation but we lost

Nope …. just were not dealt the right cards. In the end young Cleary just didn’t want to leave Panthers.

This is a logical fallacy:
“Lack of evidence does not equate to evidence”

Would be funny if the documents we're supposedly scrambling for compensation are actually a coaching extension agreement with a clause in favour of the Clearys (on top $).

Kulwith respect Im not interested in logic this is rugby league.

I started this thread on Monday Night and many people told me I was dreaming and it was 1000-1 chance

1500 replies later it looks like it has more then legs…

I think we should form an unruly mob and burn effigies of Ivan on his front lawn. If he stays, get the hose.

:laughing:

How about we build a hollow wooden statue of Nathan, put a army of angry Tigers fans in the statue and when he brings it in the house we ambush him.

Haven't read through all of the pages, so apologies if these items have been raised.

1\. Would the NRL integrity unit consider looking at what has occurred? The NRL should, in my opinion, have some concerns. 3 clubs in contention for the finals (Brisbane, Penrith and Wests) now have uncertainty and speculation around their short-medium term. This will likely impact performances, crowds and gambling revenue.

2\. Obviously no one has proof, but has Cleary been encouraged or coerced into breaking contract?

Isn't it ironic? The previous coach, with management support, "broke" Farah's contract. Now the new coach wants to break his own contract and all hell has broken loose from our management. What goes round comes round.

It would need be be of epic proportion mate to fit us all inside :laughing:

Plus Geo would cause a blockage !
