Im resigned to the fact Ivan Cleary has made up his mind and will join Penrith.

My reasoning is that he met up with them 2 weeks ago and was presented with an offer. He reported this to the Wests Tigers. Yesterday Phil Gould sacks Griffin and is on record as saying they decided yesterday that Griffin would not be the coach going forward.

Have a good think about that.

They cant have decided yesterday that Griffin wasnt going to be the coach going forward. Thats a lie. They would not have offered Cleary his deal if they hadnt already made up their mind about Griffin!

Gould has been caught in a lie here.

IMO yesterday wasnt the day that they decided to move on Griffin, yesterday was the day Ivan Cleary gave them their answer.

What's the difference if panthers finished off the season with griffen?

Nathan Cleary

I dont thino nathan staying until Oct makes much a difference.

Before everyone gets too excited in regards to breech of contract everyone has to remember that he would actually have to breech, ie stop doing his role or do it somewhere else.

I’m sorry to say but we are snookered.

We stand behind the contract- we the fans hate the coach.
We let him go- we the fans realise just how weak our club is.

We can’t stare them down as we don’t have a backup coach, nor can we afford to wait as we have roster spots to fill.

Compensation is our best bet but truly what would be enough? 2m?

Huh? He either stays or goes. If we deny him a release and he goes he has breached his contract - we have every right to sue him and possibly Penrith and Gould and also ask for a stay on him coaching anywhere until his contract has been finalised.

Gould on the news was quick to state it wasn't him that had the discussion with Ivan Cleary. Perhaps Go and Pascoe have got their message across.

I have also heard this was driven by the chairman of Penrith David ONeill who is Clearys mate. Gus may very well be the messenger.

You can't be serious - so this was done without any consultation with Gould. That fat slime bag is up to his eyeballs in this.

Here’s a theory Gus farms out the approach via a 3rd party through an offer that would surely tempt IC , Ivan goes to Pascoe and says he is considering the offer as anyone would do the same given the $ on offer but no formal release requested . Pascoe says that this will not be granted so Ivan knows where he stands and now in a position to negotiate a contract extension and maybe bringing his son on board. Maybe Ivan is playing both ends towards the middle to have the last laugh on Gus as the board are saying he hasn’t requested a release

I honestly think if Cleary goes we will be bottom dwellers for the next decade.

No facilities, limited finances, unable to recruit or retain talent.

Force Cleary to stay and bring in assistants to actually run the show.

I was concerned when Ivan was at origin games rather than focusing on our upcoming games

Don’t fall for this. Even the club doesn’t know what Ivan will do hence why they only state their position.

Only Ivan and perhaps his manager know what he is thinking.

People are missing the point - its more than just losing your coach - the whole Tigers brand would be laughable if they don't take a stand. Its about showing stakeholders and members and other clubs that the years of being a patsy are over. Pascoe has gone out of his way to state this. All that remains is that they stick to their guns. I personally believe Cleary will break his contract and walk with Gould up to his neck in that decision. If this happens the WT have to go hard - sue Cleary, sue Penrith and especially sue Gould. Stuff compensation. This could very well be a defining point in this clubs history.

The fact that Pascoe mentioned in the presser, that he too was sacked by the same CEO during his time @ the Panthers wasn't lost on me either. They've gone & made this personal. I salute Justin for coming out on the front foot & giving the fans what they needed.

You notice the PR machine kick into drive today too? A couple of manacured 1 sentence comments by both CEO & Chairman, and then a really well timed response 1 v 1 with Justin @ the end of the business day/news cycle.

This morning Brent Read questioned Ivan's integrity if he left the club, and now there's the article about how we can feasiby set up the chess board if we take it all the way to litigation. I'm actually proud of the club tonight. As I mentioned earlier, this is gotten personal now. Careers are on the line. We've got leverage 4 once now too. We gotta go all in boys & stop being emotional.

This is even worse than the whole Big Four saga. Still confused as to how another team sacking it's coach four weeks out from the finals somehow still affects us. Are we really that much of a basket case???

I found myself breaking into voice today when the rain started pelting down.
“I can see Cleary now the rain has come….”
