Ivan Cleary - THREAD..

Marina Go on Fox now saying he hasn’t asked for a release - just told them he had been approached.
Also said it was wrongly reported he said he didn’t know where he would be coaching next year.

Sounds like damage control to me, I believe the board is saving face after the issues of the past.
I still believe Ivan asked for s release, why would he tell the players he doesn’t know where he will be next year - he still had a contract with tigers for 2 more years.
This all stinks, more to come.
At best Ivan is biding his time for the next 2 years just to save face and claw back some integrity. Is this what we want? A coach on auto-pilot?
Let Penrith sign a coach long term then Ivan 2 minutes after the ink has dried!

Drafting an apology to Ivan (and carving a voodoo doll of him, too.)

Jokes aside, feeling better about all this, delay hurts Penrith more than us, our season is gone.

Will get to a point where it affects our recruitment though, so we need some clarity from IC now that this has come out.

The point was raised earlier in the thread about what NRL fans in general think about this. I'm going to adopt Go and Pascoes attitude that we only need to concern ourselves with what's best for our club. Every other club in the NRL would happily see it's rivals burn in hell, I think we need to realise this is the way to view the competition, and also the way to consider requests from people who want to leave the organisation.

Bonus points for this situation as whenever I'm bored I can just read the latest drivel from harelip Gus and have a good laugh.

I actually felt sorry for Griffin, not something I ever thought I'd write.

Hilarious if this ended in Cleary getting an extension here, and Gus getting railroaded out of Penrith. Would be the cherry on top of a perfectly executed 5 year plan.

According to Go he never said that to the players today, more fake news

I don’t balme Ivan for loving his son lol

It sounds like everyone is angry at him for caring about his son too much - obviously Nathan is his number one priority over his job I get that and I’m hoping that’s the case for everyone on this forum - the fact people are saying it’s becoming a sickness because they’re obesessed and all they’re going off aren’t Nathan who is like 21 still living at home

Only thing I have a problem with is him wanting to do it ASAP and not honouring his contract and trust with his players - obvs something delving deeper

Exactly

It's a sickness

Never seen anything like it b4

Why did he even sign with us until 2020 when he knew NC was of contract in 2019?

Doesn't make sense

Ppl will argue he didn't know know what would happen in the future but obviously loyalty wasn't an option

Didn't take much for him to jump ship

I think a lot of people here are a bit blinded of how the environment would be,a coach coaching his son,,anything that goes wrong favouritism will be the catch cry, blood is thicker than water and they will stick together, and I foresee, major problems with this coaching arrangement, it will be the Cleary show, and suddenly we will be in a position where they will rule the powerbase,I’m just putting it out there, if Penrith want that let them have it,I personally don’t think it will be smooth sailing. I understand everyone’s frustration and I’m pissed off as well, but the grass is not always greener as it seems to be. I’ve been a Balmain/ West Tigers fan for 45 years.

Go saying things that fly in the face of the media, if she is right, Ivan is being unfairly portrayed.

The plot thickens

And why is it that Ivan has not fronted the Media
Because he is gutless

Ivan said he was approached
That puts penrith in Deep Doo Doo
So let's take them to court then
We will have Ivan's backing

You can believe Go if you like, not me!
Gould started feeling the heat after the legal threats we made and started back-pedalling., realising the liability, We are now manufacturing a good story to tell the public.
Hilarious

If I Cleary does see out his contract here you'd need to be desperate or have low self-esteem to take a 2 year contract at the Penrith Killing Fields. Maybe RCG's old man take it on…

Plus him, Penrith and Ivan are copping a PR pasting. When the Tele, SMH, the Oz, Buzz and Fox are openly condemning you as one it's not going well. Frankly I'd be ashamed if our club carried on business like this. As for Ivan I appreciate he has dreams but as the Herald says it's not the u/11s…

Same

I'm in my 46th year

Love the club

This could be very interesting indeed.

In my opinion, if Ivan really wants to stay, he must extend his contract to prove his commitment. It will be the only way we can attract players. This will mean that Nathan is actually more likely to walk out on Penrith if they want to play together.

Gould's position then theoretically becomes untenable as he loses his star playmaker and coach he promised.

That's what I stated earlier

If they don't get IC now they have a toxic coaching environment coming up

Who would want to work under gus than

ABSOLUTELY NOBODY

Exactly

It's bordering on childish crap

They need to grow up

They are not teenage lovers

Or a near 70 year old coach looking for a 2 year gig with a quality list and big final paycheck.
